https://www.welt.de/wirtschaft/article206809007/Coronavirus-Bosch-stellt-Schnelltest-vor-Ergebnis-in-zweieinhalb-Stunden.html

Bosch developed a fully automated Covid-19 test kit which takes 2.5h instead of 1-2 days. The mass production will start in april. The diagnosis accuracy is 95%, medical workers don't need to do anything besides taking the probe.

Respirator and fpp3 mask production are on the way. Also, the antibody testing methodology is finished and test kits will be built soon. They are needed to determine to what degree Covid-19 has spread/immunity already exists.

Honestly, I think all of these statistics are inaccurate. Not enough people are getting tested anywhere, and symptoms range from dry throats to severe illness.

I'm afraid both of you are incorrect.

First of all, it's the vastness of China that might have saved China, and in turn, its neighbors from the fall-out. All the countries are very far from the epicenter of Wuhan/Hubei. Moreover, hubs like Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai are 1000 km, 1500 km and 800 km away from Wuhan.

By isolating Hubei, China saved those hubs and hundreds of thousands of expatriate and mobile population from infections.

The actual fatalities inside Hubei may be more than that is being reported, but the lockdown may have saved other parts of China.

USA scientists' results show there is only one strain of the Wuhan virus, it mutates much slower than influenza or other cold inducing coronavirae which means a vaccine could eliminate it once and for all.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/the-coronavirus-isnt-mutating-quickly-suggesting-a-vaccine-would-offer-lasting-protection/2020/03/24/406522d6-6dfd-11ea-b148-e4ce3fbd85b5_story.html

About testing in Germany, Drosten said around 500000 tests were conducted in Germany. That's more than South Korea.

These are tragic, and reminders that just because you're under 70 doesn't mean you're safe.

But we should also be mindful that these two, and the 21-year-old who died recently, could have had underlying health problems that weren't diagnosed. Or had other problems, such as high BMI or a smoking habit. And that's before considering if they were exposed to larger doses of the virus.

The reason we should be wary of the new sickness. Even now, we still don't know much like for example what is considered a real risk factor in case of Covid-19: high blood pressure, diabetes, previous pneumaia, eating garlic for example due to South Europeans being affected the most etc. ( the last one is a joke). There're too many unknown variables.

You can notice how there is a substantial difference between Western landers and Eastern landers. As if there were still 2 different states in Germany

Very interesting. Here's the chart: https://deutschland-bleibt-zu-hause.teralytics.net/?date=2020-03-24&ref_date=2020-03-17

Try playing around with the dates in the link - think 17 is the starting date, and they have data till 24 March so far.

I see more of a north vs south difference, rather than a strict east vs west difference that your screenshot shows. Then again, each choice of start and end dates in the map paints a different picture.

It has to be pointed out very clearly that the areas shown most red in that map, i.e. where mobility has decreased the least, are also the areas of Germany with by far the lowest population density.

We're talking about the whole Bermuda triangle between Brandenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Mecklenburg, Niedersachsen (where not by chance the main nuclear waste dump of Gorleben is situated), we're talking about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with it's lake districts, the Havelland, the Elbe valley natural preserve areas, the Uckermark nest to the border with Poland formed by the Oder river, the countryside in Holstein, the Thüringer Wald uplands, the Harz mountain range between Hessen and Sachsen-Anhalt.

There are next to no peopple living there, so even if those people move around out of the house as usual, they don't meet anyone else lol.

But it's also true that many of these areas conincide with the former East-West German border, which still constitutes a belt, a green belt or a dead strip, depending on your viewpoint.

Meanwhile, look at the cities, even in the east. They are white to green.

I saw a graph of the same thing for US states. The same conclusions were true there too.

These maps are not nearly as interesting as people think they are. I think the US one is slightly more interesting than this one, but only because it went state by state (that is, it wasn't precise enough). I assume if it had the same precision as this image, it would look the same.

The Helsinki region is being sealed off from the rest of Finland. Smart move, there aren't enough ICUs in Finland to deal with covid-19.

About 300 and that number apparently can be doubled in a few weeks. But "at least half" will be used for treating other patients than covid-19s. Currently we have 22 covid-patients in ICUs.

You have then 600/55.13 ICU/100000 = 11 ICU beds per 100000 isn't bad. Germany has got 3 times more ICUs/100000 but 80% of them are being used and one can't just double the amount for Covid-19 patients. I think it is the same in every other country, ICUs exist to be used, I assume at least 80% usage in UK as well.
Look at that:

Got some really disturbing news through the grapevines. Yes it's informal (source) and can be unreliable but the content looks very plausible so I will share it.

Apparently, our suspected cases are over 10,000. Currently there's just 40 confirmed cases with Five confirmed deaths. It's not improbable by any means since,

Over 100000 people have returned from abroad in the first three weeks of March.

There hasn't been much in terms of quarantine, testing or monitoring.

The movements have been very unrestricted till March 18.

I think the whole point is that the hospital has been continually promised things only for those promises to never materialize. On top of that, the woman in question is concerned about the increase in patients.

Putting this out could spur agencies to act (on the bureaucratic level) and also get more individuals at the local level to be taking things more seriously.

Look, I have a problem with some of the "doom and gloom"ers that have been a prominent voice in this outbreak once people actually opened their eyes to it. With that being said, the woman in the video is not screaming "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE, LOOK AT THE HORROR". She's pretty calm and speaking factually about what the situation is.

It's putting information out there. That's what the media is supposed to do. This is better than a lot of things put out there because it doesn't really even offer commentary about what to do. It just states what is happening. Although they could have done without the scary music in the background. That's what I can agree with.
