Feel like BC is right although debating about the different regions of the US is a wonderful way to spend an hour. Couldn't help myself.

Every country that is sufficiently large has sub-cultures that differ significantly between regions. That doesn't mean they are equivalent to different countries. Exceptions can be made for things like French Canada, Scotland, Catalonia, Basque Country, etc where they do have a legitimate claim at being called a "like a different country".
Yep, 100% with BC on that one aswell
Different accents and subcultures and nature can be found all throughout almost every country.

I think you’ll find that, the more developed the country is, the higher the reported statistics will be. No offense intended towards the countries that border China.
Honestly, I think all of these statistics are inaccurate. Not enough people are getting tested anywhere, and symptoms range from dry throats to severe illness.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread - Part 2
think the growth isn't exponential anymore so yeah I assume the measure do have an impact
but at the same time, I think from a certain number of cases upwards now testing and the statistics based on it loses grip on reality, as numbers show testing capabilities rather than actual infections
Number of deaths will be the stat to watch in the future, not number of infections

Re: The Coronavirus Thread - Part 2
So here's a map of how much testing US states have been doing, and the number is really incredibly low outside of NY
https://www.politico.com/interactives/2020/coronavirus-testing-by-state-chart-of-new-cases/
Which is why it's no suprise it LOOKS like the virus is only exploding in NY
but for example Michigan have only done 4000 tests, and of those 2000 have been positive ffs, 50%
Does one have to fear for Detroit, @McLewis ?

Neil Ferguson of Imperial says his modelling shows that with NHS ICU surge and new national lockdown, Covid-19 demand on hospitals likely to be "within capacity"
— Chris Smyth (@Smyth_Chris) March 25, 2020
This could work...
Fantastic news. Seems like the lock down is working in the UK. Who would have thought?

The German newspaper Bild published an interactive map that it' s created on the basis of anonymous mobile operator data
Mobility has decreased more in green areas, weaker in red regions: citizens have behaved differently, especially in large cities
Red = many people move
green = few people move
You can notice how there is a substantial difference between Western landers and Eastern landers. As if there were still 2 different states in Germany

Because literally no one likes China well except Pakistan and they keep attacking these countries and hell, they still want the South China sea to themselves.

First part is unverified and probably untrue. Its just that these countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore have better governments than the west.
Look at Thailand, Australia and Malaysia, heat isn't stopping anything. The rest of countries in Asia still have winter with 20 deg C in most countries.

Very interesting. Here's the chart: https://deutschland-bleibt-zu-hause.teralytics.net/?date=2020-03-24&ref_date=2020-03-17
Try playing around with the dates in the link - think 17 is the starting date, and they have data till 24 March so far.
I see more of a north vs south difference, rather than a strict east vs west difference that your screenshot shows. Then again, each choice of start and end dates in the map paints a different picture.

It's not like Pakistan loves China, rather that their economy has not collapsed only BECAUSE of Chinese support - be it for military (coming in where US interests receded) or economic (China having its own strategic reasons).
Most other neighbors of China dislike the way they project their power and enforce their will (eg. South China Sea), or were greedy in signing up for Chinese loans and are now stuck in massive debts. In some cases, China even "bought out" allies that India took for granted - eg. Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, before Modi's charm offensive tried to wrestle back some of that initiative.
India imports TONS of Chinese goods, but has very limited direct flights and connectivity to China (Himalayas help). The virus came to India from Europe (mainly) and US.

It has to be pointed out very clearly that the areas shown most red in that map, i.e. where mobility has decreased the least, are also the areas of Germany with by far the lowest population density.
We're talking about the whole Bermuda triangle between Brandenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Mecklenburg, Niedersachsen (where not by chance the main nuclear waste dump of Gorleben is situated), we're talking about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with it's lake districts, the Havelland, the Elbe valley natural preserve areas, the Uckermark nest to the border with Poland formed by the Oder river, the countryside in Holstein, the Thüringer Wald uplands, the Harz mountain range between Hessen and Sachsen-Anhalt.
There are next to no peopple living there, so even if those people move around out of the house as usual, they don't meet anyone else lol.
But it's also true that many of these areas conincide with the former East-West German border, which still constitutes a belt, a green belt or a dead strip, depending on your viewpoint.
Meanwhile, look at the cities, even in the east. They are white to green.

https://www.welt.de/wirtschaft/article206809007/Coronavirus-Bosch-stellt-Schnelltest-vor-Ergebnis-in-zweieinhalb-Stunden.html
Bosch developed a fully automated Covid-19 test kit which takes 2.5h instead of 1-2 days. The mass production will start in april. The diagnosis accuracy is 95%, medical workers don't need to do anything besides taking the probe.
Respirator and fpp3 mask production are on the way. Also, the antibody testing methodology is finished and test kits will be built soon. They are needed to determine to what degree Covid-19 has spread/immunity already exists.
