It's massively broken in Iran in the last week as well. Most # of deaths after China...

Korea's cases have gone through the roof in the last week too.

Korea-Italy-Iran seem to be hosting the second phase of the virus...god knows what the official situation and numbers are from mainland china.

Yes, things are getting out of hand now.

I knew Liverpool winning the league was a clear sign that the world is ending.

Latest updates:

1. Iran confirms new death; 8 total, 43 infected.
2. Italy cases jump to 89 in Lombardy region, surpassing 100 nationwide. Two deaths.
3. South Korean cases jump to 602 after 46 new cases reported. Five deaths.
4. France has reported 12 confirmed cases of the virus and one death.
5. Man in Hubei didn’t show symptoms until 27 days later, which shows that what we initially thought about the incubation period is wrong (14 days).

6. China’s National Health Commission reported 648 new confirmed cases, and 97 additional deaths as of Feb. 22.

That brings the mainland’s total to 76,936 cases, and 2,442 deaths.

7. World Health Organization is urging to prepare for a potential spread of the coronavirus across Africa as well.

Impact on football

- 4 matches were postponed today and it's hard to play then asap . For example Inter-Sampdoria is going to be played in 13th of May ( 3 days before of last Serie A matchday .. Imagine if Inter are still on Serie A race title .. Laughing )

- No one knows still the destiny of Inter-Ludogorets.
Impossible to play at San Siro in "normal" conditions. Closed doors appears as the most probable solution.
but Ludogorets asked the reversion of the pitch ( even though I think it's easier to get the tetanus at Razgrad than Coronavirus in Milan but ok..)

- Serie A destiny still more uncertain.
We should expect imo many matches played to closed door , to begin with the most awaited match Juventus-Inter

I don't know how it is going to end ( I hope good and soon) but that's sure we 're going to await for something we 've ever lived. Also because of media amplification.  Nothing will be as before.

Even with closed doors, how is that going to stop the virus from spreading? If there's a carrier among the stadium staff or among the journalists, you'll always be running the risk of someone else getting it as well.

Unless you quarantine entire cities, there's really no efficient way of stopping the pandemic from spreading.

Yes for example Codogno ( 82 cases) is under quarantine

About the whole Lombardia, bar , discoteques, pubs were forced to close at 6 PM

There is basically the curfew in the most productive region of Italy.

Atm it seems...

Stay safe Robes

I work at the infectious diseases department, and the only quarantine in whole of Serbia is at my workplace, if it comes here I am screwed.

Until now I used that quarantine to stash toilet paper and sleep with nurses, hopefully it remains a place of joy.

Who would have thought China's last gift to Italy would be stopping some minorities from being abused on a football pitch today Proud Proud

Technically yes, but I 'd not say it is because of Coronavirus (as Media let us think )
I mean this woman was already hospitalized on a cancer ward, so she had already a  previous situation very critical

Austria stops train from Italy due to suspected coronavirus infections

VIENNA (Reuters) - Austria has denied entry to a train from Italy on suspicion that two travellers might be infected with the coronavirus, the interior ministry said on Sunday.

“Tonight a train on its way from Venice to Munich was stopped at the Austrian border,” the interior ministry said.

The Italian State Railways had informed Austrian train operator OBB that there were two people with fever symptoms on the train, the ministry’s statement said.

The train was now waiting at the Brenner Pass on Italian territory. “The further procedure is currently being discussed together with the Italian authorities.”

It is unclear when the train will be able to continue on its journey, an OBB spokesman said.

Italy is battling with an explosion of coronavirus cases, which rose on Saturday to more than 150, with three deaths. The government has closed off the worst-hit areas in the northern regions of Lombardy and Veneto.

Austria’s interior minister Karl Nehammer said earlier on Sunday that a coronavirus task force will meet on Monday to discuss whether to introduce border controls with Italy.

Such border controls could be established within an hour, said General Franz Lang, who is responsible for public security.

There have been 181 suspected coronavirus cases in Austria, with none confirmed, according to the interior minister.

Peter Kaiser, governor of the province of Carinthia which borders Northern Italy, advised against travelling to Italy on Sunday.

Its a good enough reason.

For example, Germany did their job and eliminated any potential danger in the bud. Frankly, Italy fucked up

Yes, it may be a little harsh, but letting people with symptoms go through could spread the contagion even further.

The question here though is, if those two passengers truly had the symptoms, why didn't they call the emergencies instead of traveling and running the risk of infecting others?

And if simply Germany hasn't still discovered his Coronavirus cases while Italy has discovered these too late and it' looks like   even worse than it is indeed ?

I mean.. I try this hypotesis :
Coronavirus is came in Italy for a long time (and same in other countries). And it got a capillary diffusion

But just it 's been exchanged for a "normal" influence.
I don't know from you, but influence was very harsh this year here.
On the other hand they 'd have never found out Coronavirus if the man didn't say to have been in China , and   cases 'd be few as in other sides of the world

We'll see it hmm  We know still not much about this virus, I'm trying to minimize it..

Having said that ,

Coronavirus has happened in same period of the worst politician class ever in Italy, in same period of worst level of journalism ever and worst generation of parents ever. That' s generated a psychosis that Italian can't manage for example.

You make a good point here.

I think the virus has already spread in most countries but the reason some seem to have more cases than others is because the incubation period is still unknown and it can vary from person to another.

Initially, we thought that the incubation period is 14 days, but now new cases have emerged with the subjects being studied showing first symptoms after 27 days of being exposed to the virus.

So clearly there's a lot we still don't know about this particular virus.

The bad news is, if Italy has more than 100 cases then be sure that most of Europe has the same problem because people travel in and out and through the continent all the time, all day, every day.

You have to start prepping before a crisis happens.

I never really considered myself a doomsday prepper, but I always have an eye on it. Just basic skills.

Being able to grow things. Even in Urban environments is a plus. I used to grow tomatoes in my apartment before work got crazy. I may start doing it again.

few breakthrough in coronavirus research https://news.utexas.edu/2020/02/19/breakthrough-in-coronavirus-research-results-in-new-map-to-support-vaccine-design/

also Uni of Queensland are on it https://www.uq.edu.au/news/article/2020/02/significant-step%E2%80%99-covid-19-vaccine-quest, though vaccine development to test immune response is a total different matter, been hearing also these developments needing a lot of funding, so we might be still months and months away...

hope we hear good news soon and really hats off to all the researchers for working their butts off and risking their own lives to save lives.

I was thinking about a building a shelter underground in the backyard but that seems a bit much lol (not for coronavirus but a couple years back, just in case)

I'm not one to panic, but I'll be prepared to close up my shop and go on a lockdown.

Tourists have surely been coming and going out of Italy so I'm expecting first cases in Poland soon, sadly.
