Probably in my top 20 movies of all time or so, @Freeza listen to 'Someone In The Crowd'
I'm trying not to listen to it before seeing the movies... I'm enraged that there's still a month and a half until release. What is this shit ffs.
Surely Tom Hiddleston is done in the running for James Bond after last night. People are talking about Meryl Streep, but Hiddleston should be the real story. Guy spent five minutes on a speech. He started talking about arms dealing in South Sudan, which is a serious subject and they of course didn't risk playing him off then. He goes on and on. Ends up talking about how they have 6pm curfew there and the doctors have to be inside. When they're inside, they of course watch The Night Manager and they love him in it. And that's great.
Seriously That guy

On second thought you're right, don't listen to the songs on youtube, save them for the movie for a more ephemeral experience. Also, is this Gosling's breakout year? From Nice Guys and this, i can't seem to remember any old prominent movies from him

Lol I felt same. Come to think most of these showbusiness people are not so intelligent or interesting in real life.

Billy Bob was great. So was Gosling. Viola Davis and Meryl were amazing and made me so emotional. Carnell was great.
I wouldn't really judge people's intelligence on how they act when they're on live television. Huddleston just came across as incredibly unaware of himself.
A lot of them are extremely intelligent and interesting people. But it's difficult to get to know anyone from how they act through a live television persona.

Yeah I saw La La Land again it was so good.
I don't think I felt quite the same as ES, but I can't say I'm too far off, and i certainly understand what he's saying. t's really quite an incredible film.

Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled imo
- Spoiler:
- Immense. I was listening to the soundtrack today while driving (all the way through) and was transported to another world. Listening to the song "Epilogue" remembering the last 20 minutes like
I'm very happy with the way it ended. They pulled it off perfectly imo. I know a lot of people would hope they end up together and I wouldn't have minded it, but I think Chazelle absolutely nailed the ending.
Favorite shot, btw? I was thinking through the other day and the shot where Gosling is looking out on the Pacific Ocean in full purple as well as the shot where Stone is in the theater and the movie is projected onto her face as she looks for Gosling in the theater both stand out for me. I think the latter is my favorite. There are many moments from the movie you could choose however. When they meet eyes at the end of the movie, and give a slight grin

- My favorite shot probably is the same one with Sebastian facing the Pacific Ocean, i also liked when they came back from the party and were singing/swinging around that lampost. Felt like i was watching a play rather than a movie.

Seems fairly positive so far.
Has better ratings from critics than WoWS (the 3 hour version – not 40 minute Arab cut) and that was a masterpiece. Doubt it'll be that good. Just an example of how you often take reviews pretty serious unless they're 95/100.

Is Silence going to come out in theaters more widely?
Didn't even know it was released until I looked it up just now

Silence is coming out this month? Wow.
-----------------
Watched Colonia (2015)
6/10
Had immense potential. In the end turned out to be a dud. Emma Watson! On the other hand my boy Daniel Bruhl once again reminded why he is one of the next big things. Him and Michael Nyqvist saved the film from sinking completely I felt.

Carrie (1976)-- they just don't make horror (scary? Idk what you call these things, I don't watch them much) films like this anymore. Really enjoyable. I had seen much of it before but not all of it. Watching it all the way through was worth it.
Definitely a classic I would recommend to anyone

Really liked as a fantasy film not as much horror as I didn't find it to scary in any way. Good film though. I think old horror films have great stories and scripts, at least better than a lot of current mainstream ones, but they seem so poorly made at times at least when it comes to scaring you. Acting is great in this though. Especially the mom and sissy spacek

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
I don't disagree there, though are recent scary films that scary either?
I don't watch them much but I've seen the conjuring, and it was laughable at most parts. Don't get me wrong, Carrie had some laughable parts too, but overall the acting and the story were far superior.
I can think of one specific time (at the end of the movie...) where I got legitimately freaked out in Carrie, but to me that's generally how most of those films are. Again, as I've mentioned, I generally stay away from the genre so I could be wrong.

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
I don't scare easily, which makes me sad. I wish I could. The Babadook shook me to my core though, never felt that way with a horror film before. Generally they're bad. I like most other James Wan horror films tbh. The Conjuring is great. It Foows was good.
Green Room and Babadook are my two favourite horror films of all time. Unless you count Aliens in there. Jaws could probably also fit in there. That's my top 4.
It follows, 10 Cloverfield Lane of modern ones.
Just watched The Audition at work this year. Real freaky Japanese horror film.
Generally more a fan of horror films bridging between being thriller and horror

I'll put The Babadook on a list for me to watch then.
Got 5 or so days before I head back to university, trying to watch Fences, Hail Caesar, My Neighbor Totoro and Silence (if it comes out here) before I go.

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
Hollywood doesnt know how to make scary films. All they could come up with are a barrage of the same old repetitive formulae involving jump scares. Ofc there are exceptions like Babadook, Shining et al.
I liked The Others (2001) very much when I watched it and there were a few Shyamalalamalan movies that were quite good. The animated movie Coraline(2009) was brilliant. But barring them few bright sparks, not much deserving a shout-out I'm afraid.
Asians (mainly Koreans) are the best I reckon in making horror movies. They may be a tad more violent and gory than its Western counterparts but I prefer those thriller/horror movies to them crap same old same old Hollywood movies all day.

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
Generally horror films are hard to make really effective which isn't helped by them being so cheap to make. The problem is often the effort with them.
Also Babadook isn't a Hollywood film.
Really never understood the love for The Shining either, but I know I'm in the minority there

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
Yea I forgot. Babadook was an Australian film, my bad. (But I am wondering how could I in the first place, especially considering there was even a specific scene in it of that kid making a weapon with a cricket bat lol)
Shining was brilliant imo. It was more a psychological thriller. The way that film was made its so fkin creepy.
Talking of psychological thrillers there was one film tho that kinda scarred me for life lol. Funny Games, the original German one, not its Hollywood remake. It was disturbing to say the very least. Haneke is one goddamn sonofabiatch.
For those who havent experienced it, highly recommending it. Check it out. Its kind of a masterpiece.

No!
I mean come on the guy has been around for a long time now.
The Notebook, Crazy Stupid Love, The Place Beyond the Pines and when Blue Valentine and Drive came out is when people really started talking about him as a topic on being one of the best actors of his generation.

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
Saw Hacksaw Ridge yesterday. 3.5/5
Best part: the cinematography has to be up there as one of the best I have seen from the war genre. Some of the war stunts were also original and refreshing. Basically the second half of the film is 4.5/5 while the first half is nothing but generic and mediocre. Garfield while not tremendous is easily the best thing acting wise.
Worst part: nothing more than a oh-we-have-to-glorify-our-war-heroes American movie. I also think the way the film was portraying the faith angle it came off borderline pro-religious.
