Such a fantastic movie. Worth the accolades imo.

It reminded me of Camus' The Stranger. A vivid depiction about a guy who's aloof, detached from everyone else and has weird and unexplainable thought processes and actions; and also how in every society there are the "nobodies", the forgotten (in this case the neglected and lacerated Vietnam vets) that try to become "somebodies", that are faced against their unfair but at the same time ineluctable destiny, and they try to overcome it. And Travis in some absurd and irrational way did it (though I still think the glorification of the mexican butchery that was the final was a near death immagination/dream)

Immaculate acting, palpable suspence, cruel and fascinating story. 9,5/10

That's actually a great comparison. Both share the themes of absurdness. DeNiro's character was also similar to the main character in The stranger because both struggled with their own personalities and didn't really understand their environments and made irrational decisions.

Wow. What a *bleep* film

Might have the top 5 score in any film i have seen. It was truly haunting. It was almost like the score was telling the story at times. Amazing art too. And the acting. And the story. I am not sure I have seen anything by Polanski before but this was more or less a cinematic masterpiece

That final act when everything came together. That twist. That final scene. Jack Nicholson

9.2/10

The final act was amazing indeed. I loved how it all came together. I also loved how every technical aspect was brilliant but always took back seat to the unravelling story - the way it should be.

I just found out that the entire movie was based on Nicholson's perspective. He was there in every single scene and when he wasn't, (when he had a blackout) the camera went black with him until he woke up. I didn't realise that.

Also some of the dialogues were

I definitely will rewatch this one.

No Country IS their best movie. Not my most fav one, but their best, well at least according to a lot of critics and Coen fanbois (a notion which I dont have a problem accepting truth be told). Its a 9/10 movie whichever way you look at it.

Really? I've never heard anyone say this for a fact. Also don't think I've heard anyone conclude this. If anything there's three movies I hear mentioned more times as their best: Fargo, Raising Arizona and Big Lebowski. Personally I think their best is Inside Llewyn Davis and Barton Fink. But there's so many to choose from. I haven't really seen anyone fanboy or critic claim this. Maybe we just listen to different people. No Country seems to be their least "Coeny" movie tbh. I think their fans often gravitate towards the more darkly humorist movies they've made. That's my experience at least.

RG, you should def give it another chance. Watch Miller's Crossing. I'm 100% sure you'll like that one.

Nah I won't give up. I need to watch Inside Llewyn Davis. I watched a bit of Big Lebowski years ago and wasn't a fan. But I was pretty young though.

I'll give few others a chance for sure.

It's a unique story. But it's also a lot of drama. Like 90%. It has very little type of suspense you like.

Try it if you want though.

Garfield is a good actor.

McConaughey taking a rest it seems.
Leo will from now on probably choose his roles more wisely and with more personal freedom.
Hardy will continue to Hardy for now (i.e. take on any role that slightly interests him)
Fassbender will come back soon with a bang after X-Men and Assassin Creed shit is done.
Still waiting for McAvoy's Oscar winning performance.

Garfield is amazing. Have you seen Boy A? Amazing in that.

McConaughey has Gold coming out this month. Apparently not any good.

Hardy is amazing. Never seen an actor pick his roles with so little consideration. He's said himself the ones who ask him first he'll work for if it's a little bit interesting.

Leo has always been careful though. Amazing how he's so not-insane considering he's a child star. Same can be said about Gosling.

Fassbender has some great roles coming out this year. Can't wait for The Snowman, think it's this year. And Alien looks amazing.

Thought McAvoy came close with Atonement though

Apparently he (McAvoy) is great in Split, however as you might guess, it's not the type of movie the Academy would like and that's probably why it didn't get an Oscar run.

Léon: The Professional (1994)

Good film. Bonnuci was class in this one. Not sure about 8.6/10 on imdb though. Bit too high?

Ventilator scene was great.

8/10

Well. It won two categories with competition. Screenplay and Director. The rest was painfully obvious and without any competition.

Can't wait to see it next month. Retarded that the wait is so long... City of Stars is such an amazing song.

Guys which all films should I watch of Meryl Streep? I am ashamed to admit but I havent seen much of her work tbh. Is she indeed the "greatest living actress (IMDb description)" of today? Share your thoughts.

Yes probably one of the greatest actor (both male/female) of all time imo. I would recommend
1. Sophie's choice
2. Deer hunter
3. Doubt.

Lucifer

Seems like nothing but a comment on both being red-haired. Emma Stone has shown more range. Than Lindsey had at any point.

Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies, but I still don't think she was anything but acceptable in it.

Went to see La La Land again, what a freaking movie, deserves everything it got. Still hungover, i can't even describe the feeling it elicited from me, honestly i want to say something cliche like 'it made me feel like a child again' but it didn't, it made me feel something completely else. I don't know what it evoked, love? Is this what true love feels like?

Probably in my top 20 movies of all time or so, @Freeza listen to 'Someone In The Crowd'

I'm trying not to listen to it before seeing the movies... I'm enraged that there's still a month and a half until release. What is this shit ffs.

Surely Tom Hiddleston is done in the running for James Bond after last night. People are talking about Meryl Streep, but Hiddleston should be the real story. Guy spent five minutes on a speech. He started talking about arms dealing in South Sudan, which is a serious subject and they of course didn't risk playing him off then. He goes on and on. Ends up talking about how they have 6pm curfew there and the doctors have to be inside. When they're inside, they of course watch The Night Manager and they love him in it. And that's great.

Seriously Laughing That guy rofl
