The Nice Guys - 8.1
In Bruges - 8.1

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
That critics 100 films is as stupid as it gets. Its like they have randomly thrown some mainstream names and at the same time some offbeat hipster ones all in a weird collage. Top 15 is kinda okay. But after that its a mess. These must be their favorite films, they certainly aint the greatest.
Seriously Wall E and Inside Out over masterpieces such as Diving Bell, Prophet and Secret in their Eyes ?? And quite a lot of great films are missing from that list as well.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
May be I will get some stick for saying this ( ) but the thing is Nice guys was only decent. The 2 'Nice guys' nailed their roles. But the plot... Well. Kinda felt like a toned down version of Inherent Vice. Or like Inherent Vice and Boogie Nights together had a dim child.
Was entertaining. So thats there. about 7/10 and thats mainly for the acting, the retro mood and decent humor.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
I would put Nice Guys just ahead of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang because of Gosling and his daughter's relationship and banter
Been meaning to watch In Bruges for quite a while now.

RDJ and Val Kilmer relationship and banter is just too good to be beaten. It's worth a rewatch because I'm sure you forgotten how goddam beautifully quotable KKBB is. And the script overall is better imo in KKBB which is why it's slightly higher for me.

In Bruges bah gawd
Incredibly written and amazingly acted by Farrell, BGleeson and Fiennes. Worthy of its cult status because it's one of the best dark comedies ever made.
RG watch!

The guy who wrote this script deserves a medal.
- Spoiler:
- I must say I followed it and decoded it very well just on first view, I knew that on some level somewhere Jess was doing this intentionally. I only needed the Indian guy's explanation on youtube to realise the extent of this infinite loop.

Monica Sully
Watched Carnage. 8/10. What a *bleep* awesome film. 4 amazing actors with a great script delivering a hilariously awkward movie.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Decided I would go to the cinema for the next film that got very good reviews.
And oh boy did it deliver. Just came back from Hell or High Water Great fricking movie. So well written. I absolutely love robbery crime films so this was great. The performances are outstanding by everyone but specifically Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges. Has plenty of humor in it also. This just became my favorite Chris Pine film.
I'll give it an 8.4/10. Definitely recommend it. If you were a fan of No Country For Old Men you'll love this. Even though the films aren't alike the western setting in Texas with cowboys, rednecks, and indians gives it a similar tone.

Nothing worthwhile on the stream here.
Just saw The Light Between the Oceans is coming out this weekend, here's hoping my art house joint gets it first.

LaLa Land getting amazing reviews. Arrival really good reviews. Can't wait for them to come out here. Need to get a job where I can go to these festivals.

Arrival ffs can't wait Definitely 100% going to see it. Gotto back my main man Denis.
If La La Land continues to be above 8.5 on imdb and over 90% on RT I'm going to see it for sure. Whiplash is one of my favorite films of the last decade so I might see it regardless just for Chazelle.

Alicia Vikander in The Light Between Oceans https://i.imgur.com/7wuXfar.png
A film that will split audiences. With it being a period piece there is melodrama, and the writing isn't all that crisp. It can also be a bit predictable if you know what the film is a bout. But the performances, cinematography and score saved it for me. Cianfrance can handle a period film even if I had my doubts.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Really want to see it. I feel like even if you have half decent writing then you're golden if you can net Fassbender and Vikander
I'm sure they will be exquisite.
Didn't hear about Lala Land till now but I'm hyped. Gosling is easily one of my favorite actors and Emma Stone is underrated imo, really good actress and one I enjoy a lot. I've only seen Whiplash from Chazelle but that movie was fantastic.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
There's one scene in the second act where I literally couldn't sit still on my seat because the tension was so uneasy because Vikander nailed the emotion in it.
Best performance I've seen for her, mind I still don't know why she got an Oscar for Danish Girl, but it's not that much of a discrepancy

Hyped up for both. Thought Lala will be just another sweet rom com judging by the trailers, but then I realized who the director is.
Arrival on the other hand is much more than what they are showing in the trailer I think. People are believing once again a trailer is spoiling a movie but at least here going by the source its based on I think we have seen nothing yet.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Didn't see anything in the La La Land trailer that seemed rom com or anything like that. Seemed like avery artsy musical.
Can't wait. Loved everything I've seen from Chazelle, both in directing and writing. Grand Piano, 10 Cloverfield and Whiplash. All great.
