Re: MLS-thread
I used to think MLS was the Need for Speed to Europe's Gran Turismo, but I've pulled back on that thought.
The league entertained me immensely back when I watched it. I don't watch anymore as it's become more and more corporatized, but I do watch the goal highlights from time to time. Never disappoints when it comes to bangers. Same with the USL Championship (Division 2 in US soccer).
I think people have gotten too wrapped up in "quality" (whatever that means these days) when it comes to this sport. Just sit back and enjoy the show and if you can't, watch something else.

Messi is selling out NFL-stadiums, second game in a row, most for New England Revolutions in their 28 year history at 65,600.

I was one of them. Probably the last time I'll watch Messi in person, sadly.

5 assists and a goal in 45 minutes, that is mad
What did they snort in the dressing room before the 2nd half?

These are the 50 MOST VALUABLE soccer clubs in the world:
— Sportico (@Sportico) May 8, 2024
European soccer clubs dominate the top of the financial table, but MLS lands the most clubs with 20 in the top 50, more than twice as many as the EPL.

Re: MLS-thread
Record 5th win for Miami in a row.
Giroud to LAFC confirmed, and Griezmann will probably go there too after hinting it last week. So with Loris already there, LAFC will be the France for Miami's Argentina. Ramos is apparently in advanced talks with San Diego FC.

Re: MLS-thread
I like that were getting Griezmann. My only issue is Giroud. Not because of Giroud himself but just Cherundolo's bad record of misusing CFs in general.

Nice, glad to see football in USA taking this route.
Many tried it, Qatar, India, China, Saudi Arabia obviously, but I think USA has the best chance of making it work.

Re: MLS-thread
So all of a sudden all these US companies investing in Euro clubs n now their actual clubs also competing with Saudi for the past it big names? Must be the never ending printing of money there that allows them to compete with the oil gods?

It's probably because, for most footballers, life in USA is far more appealling than life in UAE

Re: MLS-thread
Miami draws Orlando 0-0. Miami can't win without Messi, I've never seen a team so dependant on one player.
Miami with Messi has won 19 of 26 games, or 73%. Without only 2 of 14 or 14%.
Miami with Messi has lost only 3 of 26 games, or 12%. Without 7 of 14 or 50%.
Miami with Messi has lost only 1 meaningful game, against Monterrey, when he was coming back from injury and the tie was already in pretty bad shape.

Miami win 1-2 away at Vancouver, furthest away game without Messi, Suarez and Busquets.

Re: MLS-thread
Another as Miami lost home with Messi. Well at least Cincinnati also lost, so Miami remains in top of the league. Also noticed that Miami has already equalled last years point total of 34, in exactly half the season.

Re: MLS-thread
So Miami is leading the league, but with Copa America Messi and other NT-players could miss no less than the next 7-8 games. Who's bright idea was to play during NT-breaks?

A B.C. soccer fan wants to certify a class-action lawsuit against the Vancouver Whitecaps and Major League Soccer (MLS) on behalf of customers who claim they paid through the nose for tickets to a game featuring Lionel Messi, only to see the superstar player turn out to be a last-minute no-show.
In a notice of civil claim filed Tuesday in B.C. Supreme Court, Ho Chun claims he paid $404 for a pair of tickets to a May 25 Whitecaps and Inter Miami CF match which he was led to believe would be headlined by football legends Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets.
But two days before the game, Chun says event organizers "announced that these famous soccer players would not be attending the game."
"This is a classic case of bait-and-switch," the lawsuit says, citing print, online, social media and even billboard advertising promising the trio of top-tier talent.
"Using such promotional materials as 'bait,' the defendants caused the tickets for the Vancouver v. Miami game to be listed and sold on the primary market at ten times higher than the price of other Vancouver Whitecaps home games," the lawsuit claims.

Re: MLS-thread
Should just take his L with dignity
That's precisely why i did not buy tickets for Messi's game in town. It's a gamble you spend 500$ without any guarantee. It happened in Atlanta before, they got a huge stadium and it was packed, but Messi rested that day.
