For the record, Jonas Olsson is a very decent centre-back. Had a fine season too. Experienced, 30 in March.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Chelsea have signed Ba, Liverpool have signed Sturridge and Newcastle have signed Debuchy.
It's only been four days into the window, but I already feel left out.
Anyway, I don't think Olsson would be a bad signing at £3mil, considering he'd be fourth choice. It's not practical to have four high quality centre backs.

Would he really be content leaving a starting spot to play in the FA Cup and come in as a sub sometimes when Vermaelen inevitably becomes 'jaded'?
Promoting Miquel wouldn't make a big difference between him and Djourou.

Its all coming out we have no money to spend lol. We trying to buy few players for under 10m.
Dont expect any new players unless we sell some players.

Wenger has gotta be the most frustrating manager when it comes to the transfer windows. He should have known by now the players we need and started to sign them.

Twitter is saying Chamakh to West Ham is done deal 6months loan.
The most we can do is loan our players lol, no one wants Arsenal players anymore.

Would be more correct to say that nobody wants Arsenal players on ridiculous wages. Chamakh would actually fit in well at West Ham, but a club that size would be reluctant to fork out the high wages on a player who hasn't been in any decent form for about two years now.
They'll certainly be paying a percentage of the wages, though, so it gives us some maneuverability on our wage bill, at least.

Tbf you can get some cracking players for under 10m still....
Practically our entire starting eleven is consisting of players who cost less than 10m i know we are crap at the moment but that's due to some ridiculous circumstances we know we are in a false position.
There's no reason why you couldn't get someone like Capoue or/and Adrian tbh.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Adrian seems like our most likely signing at this point. Seems we wanted David Villa this month, but that's not possible, so we're going back to Adrian. We're supposedly in negotiations for him, but no idea how we're progressing on that front.
I feel I should point out that Cazorla cost us £10.7mil. Sometimes, opportunities like that arise and taking advantage of them can prove more prudent then splashing out £15mil+ on players.
Of course, sometimes, if you want a good player, you do need to be willing to spend a bit more. But you can't say Arsenal are only looking at the bargain players because of who we're being linked with.
In any case, the price tag doesn't really matter until we've seen what the player can do in an Arsenal shirt. £10mil or so for Gervais looked a great signing at the time, but he's since proved that he's barely worth half that amount.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Wenger says the same shit over and over again. Who gives a shit about others teams with no money, Arsenal have been milking the fans give some back.
"[I'm expecting it to be] very calm because, first of all, I believe there is little money and what can happen is basically a transfer market within the English clubs," Wenger told reporters.
"That is more difficult than with the foreign clubs. Overall, I believe that not a lot will happen.
"That [the economic situation] could [affect movement], because the clubs have to look at the finances. What make the clubs are the fans and what makes the fans is the economy. On that front, nobody is really sure what will happen in 2013.
"A lot [of players are] over 30. Of course, they are all great players. They have proven that.
"It shows that the market will be more difficult for the players because the fact that you have so many top-quality players available means that [the clubs] are cautious as well."

They want some of our players but not willing to pay high wages and players not willing to go for a paycut.
Our biggest issue atm are these players.
Not only they dont contribute on the field plus they take our money without doing anything.

I know and the sad part is, the management will never learn. We pay scrubs high wages and sell our top players when they want a raise for footballing reasons. Ivan wants a big pay Check also.
For years our top players have been sold so the useless are paid well.

Villa on loan would be an amazing deal that would suit all parties, but it's unlikely. Didn't that Barcelona journo say that Villa wasn't leaving Barcelona this month? I assume that included not going out on loan, too.

Villa on loan>> Adrian permanent signing
Im not convinced with Adrian.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
It's well known, David Villa wants to leave Barcelona. Balague confirmed he was "desperate" to leave 2 weeks ago as he wants first-team football (as well as to play in the centre-forward role).
Journos on spanish tv last night said any move in Jan is unlikely due to different reasons (i posted them on here already). However, as Jay says, not sure that included a loan.
A loan deal with option to buy in summer is maybe best for all parties.
Here's hoping.
(As for gards44, as I said, he's a Spurs fan, but very reliable, followed for year)
