Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Someone want to remind that useless board and senile Wenger that we NEED to sign some players to encourage squad rotation?

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Just sayin' ... I'd love to see Arsenal sign 1-2 really good players from out of nowhere, I don't necessarily mean "nobodies," but players who weren't linked to Arsenal or any big-money moves, completely outside the rumor mills and the watchful echo chambers of Twitter & the press. I would just enjoy seeing an unheralded name or two come in and do a terrific job.
The reason why is because speculation is so intense sometimes that if players arrive after weeks or months of chatter, inevitably people will think they don't live up to the hype, or they weren't world-class transfer targets to begin with, or they were too young or too old, or that they are technically not this or that position that should have been filled instead.
Frankly I just want to see Arsenal again playing in a way that, to put it bluntly, gets even neutrals interested. Playing with inventive runs, top-notch technique, and a little ferocity. So for me anything that contributes to this at the club - whether it's a new signing, a promotion from the youth ranks, or simply a training overhaul - would be a welcome January.

Ramsey doesn't look happy at Arsenal, claims Hartson.
"Maybe if he did go out on loan [he'd get that], because he doesn't seem to start many games at Arsenal now and when he does start he's brought off and he doesn't look happy."
Finlay someone with a brain.

I'd have problem with him if he was happy considering his performances.

Wenger is waiting for Diaby to come back so he wont buy. Only a embarrassing result would force him to panic buy.
Wenger has total power and what ever he says the board does.

Arsenal have also turned down cut-price deal for Yann M'Vila. Big doubts over attitude. QPR in talks. Story: http://bit.ly/UFP33s

Breaking: Arsenal & Wigan in concrete talks regarding transfer of midfielder James McCarthy. Fee under £10m - via @DavidJBakker

Slowly losing faith in that man. Highest earner in the squad yet refuses to spend any of the plethora of cash we have stock piled

This is what Wenger was talking about, buying a lesser-known name and getting reamed by the media for it.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
James McCarthy is a beast of a player with a huge potential. He is what Phil Jones was suppose to have been for Man U. Wigan play a passing game themselves, and he holds his own at the tender age of 22.
He would be a jem for us , playing in that midfield along with Wilshere in the future. Im actually all for a talented British core at Arsenal. Ive seen this guy play for Wigan and 2 games for Ireland. For 10 million, this guy is a steal. Mark my words. He has wilsheres drive, but is more defensive and is built like an ox.

In the long run James McCarthy would be a better investment than Lucas Biglia.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Don't think anyone would deny the talent McCarthy has, but he really isn't the sort of player our midfield needs. He's the sort of player who could put in a good shift defensively, as he has really good stamina and work rate, but I still believe we need a specialist for the position and not force players like Arteta and McCarthy to perform in a role that isn't their best.
No use in comparing him with Bliglia. Nobody wanted Biglia. Not even Arsenal wanted Biglia.

Do you see McCarthy as more of a box to box? I am surprised we have not bid for Capoue yet. Also, I hear that Walcott is in the process of signing a new deal finally! So atleast its progress there!

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
I see McCarthy as a playmaker that covers a lot of ground and at his best when arriving late in the penalty area. He can fill a number of midfield roles, but one that allows him to get forward would be his best one, imo.
