He is always alone when he wins headers that's why the ball always go back to opposition. Look at what happens when Santi makes runs in the box, like he did against reading, he gets chances.
Everton are a great example of how one should use target man, while also playing passing football.
Exactly. Giroud has the best header in EPL imo, if was at Newcastle he would be scoring just like Ba.
LOL at Juve, they want Chamakh.
We need a Nolan type of player who is good at poaching 2nd balls, he is amazing when he plays with Carroll because he is always there to get Carroll's headers
Santi can do that because he is small and is able to sneak into tight places, but i think he plays too deep at times, we never have enough people in the box
Poldi says hi.
In all seriousness, Poldi will do much better and could be more effective than Santi, not taking anything away from Santi ofcourse.
Poldi will play as a SS and will be more effective than before.
Also, I must state something. Poldi can start playing as an SS where his position on paper is as an LW. He should come in more than going out wide, which should be owned by Gibbs

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
G-Rude indeed has an immaculate touch as his technique is very similar to Pippo Inzaghi's where he absorbs the pressure followed by a quick release to bring it into control of not ahead of the marker. At Montpellier he had ridiculously good displays of touch which contributed to his excellent goal record last year.
People need to stop calling him a poacher. Just because he has excellent in-box insticts and knows how to channel the defenders, doesn't mean he is merely a fox in the box. His passing has been shown to be quite impressive (assists quite a lot), he has solid use of both feet, can create goals on his own especially when drifting inside from the wide position within the box and is excellent aerially. Fact is he just prefers to go off the ball since his movement tends to open spaces and draw out markers which is a very underrated technique these days. That off the ball movement is used to create spaces within the offside lines and use the created space it his advantage.
Sadly, people don't know that since Arsenal don't create as many chances as they should, Giroud won't get to embrace his strengths. Once Arsenal augment their chances created then you will see a far more prolific G-Rude.

sportsczy wrote:Ba gets good crosses. The current Arsenal team is incapable of crossing the ball consistently. Also, Newcastle hoof it very often and ask Ba to jump on the deflected ball that end up in the box. His actual on the ball technique is very poor.
These type of strikers are useless unless Arsenal decide to change styles.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he will only sign 'exceptional' players in January.
"We are in the market, but only if we find players who will really strengthen us because we have a good squad. But if we find an exceptional player then we will take him,"
: "We lacked fluidity in our attacks [against Wigan] and continuity in our attacking play, but we won because of our will to win, and with the way things are now I won't turn my nose up at that."

--------------------------------------------------------------
What Wenger is trying to say is, he spent 70m on 5 English players and Arsenal has no money to spend. Wenger will only spend on 'exceptional' rejects from other clubs who will cost him nothing.
We are in the market for the next,Squillaci, Santos and chamakh's, we will pay them 60k a week and sell our stars to pay their salaries.
We are so screwed.
Wenger is the only Manager who does not mind losing and hates spending a billionaires money.

Demba Ba wants PSG, he wants big money.
Great move Ba, I wish you the best.

No, he's a player we're just keeping an eye on. Not a January target, as far as I know.

I will never trust any player based on Youtube anymore.
We need at least 2 quality players and I just dont see Wenger buying any.
Wenger is a liar and delusional, how dose he say with straight face we have a good squad? we couldn't beat Villa and were lucky to escape wit a point.
Wenger is already confirming we wont sign anyone, where are we going to find a exceptional player for under 10m that will take around 60k to 80k a week?

I have a feeling the reason Herny is not wanted is because he had dinner with Usmanov and the board did not like that.
This is good news though.

Realistically who are we expecting to sign besides possibly Ba or Zaha?
that's about it imo.
£30m to spend, who can we get for that? even Ba could cost us around 20m with wages.

I was hoping we had more to spend. If it is 30m then I think a DM is what we need most. Capoue or Wanyama are two I would go for but both could cost around 18-20m.
With the money left? Ba seems ok but he would fail a medical (that knee of his never passes). I doubt Arsenal would take him on that basis.
Pato is out of favour at Milan and according to some, available on the cheap (6-10m). He's been rubbish for 18 months but is still only 24 and maybe needs a change. He was pretty good before his slump.
Bojan, the ex Barca player, could be another option. Owned by Roma, but loaned out to Milan. Italian football doesn't seem to suit him and as Roma got Bojan for around 8million....he could be available fo a similar amount The boy is class and I think he would be made for us. Can play as a striker (his first choice) or as a wide player or playmaker. Still young at 22 and he is the one I would be going for (if we can. Not sure on the rules in Italy on signing players still on loan).
He just strikes me as a player that Wenger would get the best out of. And his best is pretty special.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Ba is a very realistic option even if you include his wages. Look at the overall prices of Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla and they far surpass £20mil. The club has never been afraid to give players high wages so long as it falls under their ceiling.
I have high hopes the club is looking to do business this January because it has to. You should just ignore whatever Wenger says, because Wenger will ALWAYS say "we will only sign top quality players" and "if there's a player we could realistically sign, we'll do it" and other such lines that are vague and don't betray his actual intentions.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
f*ck that, I WANT CAVANI instead of zaha, dont tell me we cant afford him! we have sold the likes of cesc, rvp, nasri, etc over the fvcking years and we cant even buy 1 *bleep* top quality player? WHY NOT FFS, i fvcking hate arsenals situation atm. how the *bleep* can a club like A.madrid lose aguero and immediately replace him with a guy like falcao, yet we replace rvp, cesc, and nasri with cheap alternatives that are not even half as good. wtf is going on? at least ONE TOP PLAYER PLEAASE just to make the fans happy again. just 1 ffs just to give me that buzz again.
WE.CAN.GET.CAVANI, THIS CLUB has the RESOURCES to do so, and do so while still being in a fantastic financial condition. WHY ARE WE NOT DOING IT??

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
Atletico actually can't afford the £40mil odd they forked out for Falcao. They've constantly lived outside their means for years and their finances are crap. They've been pulled up on FFP, too.
We could afford Cavani, but it'd be our only signing. Do we need the one top quality player or three or four good players? At the moment, I think we need to reinforce in more than one area of the pitch. We should look to get a better squad together in Jan and then compliment that squad with a big signing in the summer.
