song cant play 442, he is not fast and energetic enough to cover the ground. you need players like flamini and lass to play 442 effectively imo.

He can make up for that with good positioning. Song's positioning is actually pretty decent when he actually decides to stay back.

Latest developments on Mertesacker: Werder Bremen have confirmed that terms have been agreed between them and Arsenal. All that's left are personal terms. The German FA expect him to be back in Germany by tonight, so one expects that the deal will be concluded some time this evening.

the thing is for me songs positioning at times is suspect, its the same with most young dm's that is why pace is vital to make up for that lack of positional sense. song would suck as a lone dm imo, he is simply not good enough to be a lone dm.

i guess you guys haven't noticed but song has been more disciplined this year. yes he still goes forward but he protects the backline fiercely. was great against udinese 2nd leg. got called for some fouls that looked like fouls but were clean tackles.

I agree with Götze's agent. There have been plenty of young stars like him that have moved to big clubs far too early in their careers and have never quite been the same. It'll do him a lot of good to continue gaining experience for Dortmund.

I also think that he's not quite the solution for us at the moment. To be our main playmaker in a tough league is a lot of pressure. Think we need someone of more experience and consistency.
