Luka Jovic played 200 minutes in Laliga this season and missed more big chances than Karim Benzema. This clearly shows how good and important Benzema has been infront of the goal for us .

Jovic has played 218 minutes in all competitions. Way too early to judge.

Because Benzema is a seasoned veteran who’s spent a decade at this club, speaks the language and know his team mates and surroundings well. My point stands. People can judge players however and whenever they want to, and some people will do exactly that, but Jovic has a lot of adapting to do and I see no point in comparing him to Benzema this early after transferring to Madrid.

Give Jovic a year... i really think it takes that long to adapt to a club like Madrid unless you're a superstar with elite level skills that do not need adapting.

We need him though come February... so i hope he adjusts quicker.

Jovic missing easy chances has absolutely nothing to do with lack of chemistry with his teammates or not understanding Spanish yet. We're talking about a guy who is advertised as a lethal #9 in front of goal. And yet, Jovic has missed more clear-cut chances than Benzema (who is ridiculed by many as a terrible finisher) despite playing far less minutes & takes lesser shots.

C'mon, it's just ridiculous to defend Jovic's embarrassing stat.

I’m not defending him. He missed two sitters, fair enough. As for him needing time to adapt, if you can’t see how that might affect his ability to perform how he normally performs, then we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I definitely think it’s too early to write him off, and I see absolutely no point in comparing his 218 minutes to Benzema.

I was wondering why he was needlessly boasting about Benzema in the Jovic thread. Doc is right in saying that if he doesn't work out for us, we'll simply find someone else. However, Jovic was a fairly expensive signing, and it doesn't make much sense to judge his value this early. Missed chances aside, his runs and general positioning have looked quite unsynchronized with the rest of the team and I suspect he'll find his goalscoring rhythm once he becomes more harmonized with everyone else and manages to regain some confidence/sharpness in front of goal.

Stop making up stuff, benzema doesn't need to rotate or rest, I never seen you guys say these things about other strikers benzema age and over, you guys want any excuse for benzema sit, let jovic earn his spot it not like he didn't get chances and look completely lost, I bet money if jovic and Benz swapped performances and goals, you wouldn't want benzema anywhere near the team, but every time benz is playing well he should rest, but when he playing bad he should never play for the club again and sold outright lol.

if we were to be really honest when Benz was in jovic position, no one wanted to waited on him to get settled or learn the language, no one had a problem making up reason after reason to humiliate him and using the guy as scapegoat from the moment he joined the club up to now, no one seemed bothered more like they loved it, as usual any striker that benzema competition everyone wants to be rational, cause they talked a lot of shit before jovic even kicked a ball, typical real Madrid fans nonsense.

As for the Osasuna match, he missed two sitters but happen to finish the 3rd clear cut chance. A chance which he took in real time, where everyone assumed it was goal including all the Osasuna players. Got ruled out for an incredibly harsh (but correct) offside call.

Mid-bottom table clubs still respected us back then, like they still respect Barcelona to some extent nowadays. We could play in 2nd gear and still get away with something. I don't expect us to win against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Getafe, Villareal or even Betis these days. They put in the effort, and we create less chances as a result. Despite us being top of the league, Villareal and Barcelona have scored more goals than us, thus far this season, and that's not down to "the two sitters Jovic missed".
