Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I'm okay with selling Ozil for a good offer, but not so we could keep Ramsey. I'd rather both go, in that case.
Ozil is proving unreliable for a player on £300k p/w. We made the right choice in keeping him last January (as in, we had no other choice but to keep him, because losing him and Sanchez in one window would have been very damaging), but he's picking up more injuries, missing games due to illnesses, and has recently been left out because games have been "too intense" for him. If that doesn't describe a luxury player, I don't know what will.
And I say that as someone who loves Ozil and think he's a great player. We're not going to find someone as good as he is (or can be) very easily on our budget. It's just that at the moment he's proving a bit difficult to fit in, in terms of what Emery wants from his players and what it means for the balance of the side. Same with Ramsey.

Yes but i think we are stuck with him
replace with players who are easier to fit in+ more production from the flanks

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
There's definitely something going between Emery-Özil, you only have to seeEmery's answers in the post-match press conference to get it.
If we could move him on I would. But then at 350k/week it's near impossible especially since the Chinese fad has died down.
As for Ramsey, no. Signing him at 200k+/week is just doing the same mistake we made with Walcott. Sentiments aside, he needs to be moved on and we can actually move him on unlike Özil.
Mkhitaryan is also on some absurd wages which he doesn't justify on the pitch. Move him on too if possible.
It's time to trust Emery/Sven a full transfer window where they can make their mark and if it's moving on these players then they should be allowed to do so.

Should we try to sign new CB in Jan if Holding's injury is bad and keep him out for long?

With the transfer window fast approaching, it's time to look at some players. Could Pablo Fornals fit into Arsenal's rebuild? @chewingthecoca runs the rule over the talented Spanish international: https://t.co/JNryQAeZEu

We needed a new CB regardless of Holding's injury. Now we absolutely have to buy one.

What's with Mavropanos, Mislintat's first star signing?
Guendouzi looks like another stroke of genius, so surely there's potential with the Greek kid too

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
He's been injured all season. He was supposed to be back last month, but he had a set-back and is now due back this month sometime.
If we're playing four at the back then Koscielny (assuming he finds anything close to his previous level after injury), Mustafi, Sokratis and Mavropanos would be enough cover, but since it seems the back three is going to stick around, we're going to need at least one more.
Mavropanos is still very unproven, too. Not sure Emery will be as willing to trust him in defence as he is Guendouzi in midfield. Granted, if you can put your faith in Mustafi all season, you can put faith in anyone.

Almost forgot already about Koscielny ffs. When is he back? Massive player to lose, and to get back.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
He's back in full training and has played two u23 matches. He's due to play against Qarabag in the EL next Thursday.
Assuming there aren't any set-backs, he should be ready for first team PL selection by the end of the month.

That's fantastic news for Arsenal. Let's not forget how integral Koscielny was to the stability in your defense over many years.

The way we have been Playing in recent matches with back 3 wing backs and reliance on Kolasinac if it was to become default system,i think its well worth paying massive money for new LB/LWB and upgrade

Arsenal have joined the race for Houssem Aouar of Lyon. The club have a particular interest in the midfielder and see him as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey. Qualification for the Champions League will be key, as any deal could “exceed €40m”. [@francefootball]

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Funny enough all four would solve our problems in the summer and they all play at the same club
I hope we get Mendy out of the four though as there are more options for the other positions at other clubs.

Emery: “I think if we can take one player to help us at centre-back, I think it’s a good option,”
“The transfer window is not easy. Koscielny is coming back and for the team it’s very important he is coming back.
“Then we are going to wait and see how Mavropanos is improving with his injuries, because he is also a centre-back who can help us.
“Another option we can play with two, with three, and Nacho Monreal and Lichtsteiner can play in this position.
“But I prefer to use, if we can, a specialist centre-back.”

Arsenal are leading chase for Nicolas Pepe but face lots of competition. Lille will negotiate in January if a club opens bidding at €50m. [L'Équipe]#afc pic.twitter.com/k2zhOSJ2mR

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The timing of this is convenient, but nonetheless...
Arsenal open to selling Ozil in January:
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-transfer-news-mesut-ozil-january-epl-premier-league-unai-emery-a8692366.html?amp&__twitter_impression=true&utm_source=reddit.com
The issue is reportedly a "lingering disagreement" over Ozil's role in the team. He expects to play his usual role, but Emery wants more running, etc. Basically what you'd expect.
The report quotes a training ground source as saying: "Every player has bought into the manager's ideas, except Mesut."

Arsenal should sell him. Imagine if arsenal had signed prime suarez and not ozil. We might have been at a different level altogether.

The only places he can go is China, US, Quatar and desperate MU. That wage fucks us over bad.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
IMO Arsenal should rather sack Emery than sell Özil
one is world class, the other isn't
but I can see how that's not a viable thing to do

Hans why should arsenal sack emery? The guy has been a good for arsenal. Some things he has inherited will filter out.
Ozil is a quality player no doubt but he requires a tean to be built around him. That means wide pacey players. A top quality striker who can make those runs etc. Two good defensive mid fielders.
Plus we have Guendouzi who is equally good at playing through balls and chances created. He also has the ability to make those defensive challenges.
Ozil 350k wage can go for atleast 2 players and emery can use that on useful additions.
Even ramsey has slowly bought into emery principles. Ozil has not.
