Hans why should arsenal sack emery? The guy has been a good for arsenal. Some things he has inherited will filter out.
Ozil is a quality player no doubt but he requires a tean to be built around him. That means wide pacey players. A top quality striker who can make those runs etc. Two good defensive mid fielders.
Plus we have Guendouzi who is equally good at playing through balls and chances created. He also has the ability to make those defensive challenges.
Ozil 350k wage can go for atleast 2 players and emery can use that on useful additions.
Even ramsey has slowly bought into emery principles. Ozil has not.

Guendouzi cannot equally play through balls and create chances as Ozil...

Simply put pure no 10 is dead in current football, show me one top team play with lone creator aka pure 10, Ozil has to change his game, Messi, Coutinho, Hazard, De Bruyne all are worldclass and all evolved.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I don't think Ozil not playing a couple of games should merit a discussion about selling him just yet. He didn't play against Spurs but when was the last time he had a good game against Spurs? He also just returned from injury. Also, if we're selling Ramsey and Elneny too as reported, we can't exactly just be selling everybody. We reportedly want another keeper, CB, CM, winger...maybe another fullback in the summer too. We have to build around our best pieces and not just discard everybody to start from scratch.

What do yo Think about Wan Bissaka's potential as a Center back? good move or a waste and Let him remain RB?
I Think he would fit in perfectly as side back in back 3 and with some work can probably do it in back 4 (as a CB) too

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The Jan window opens in a couple of days, but I was just thinking about the summer and the colossal overhaul the squad will need. Raul and Sven will have to play blinders.
As it stands, the following players are leaving, could leave, or should leave:
Martinez - Always 3rd choice keeper, never going to be any better than that
Ospina - Not good enough to be first choice, could make some decent cash off his sale
Mustafi - Not good enough for this level
Chambers - Squad player at best, not sure he can improve enough to be what we need
Lichtsteiner - At the end of his career, clearly doesn't have it in him anymore
Jenkinson - Goes without saying
Kolasinac - Poor defender, not good enough as a left back
Monreal - Ageing, injury prone
Elneny - Squad player at best, could/should be moved on for a decent fee to bolster funds
Ramsey - Leaving on a free if we can't convince Juve or PSG to buy him in Jan
Ozil - Manager doesn't rate him, huge wages are a burden if he's not playing, too many downsides at the moment
Mkhitaryan - Approaching his 30s, far too inconsistent, big wages again
Welbeck - Leaving on a free
If they all left, the squad would be:
Keepers: Leno, Cech
Defenders: Koscielny, Sokratis, Mavropanos, Holding, Bellerin
Midfielders: Torreira, XHAKA, Guendouzi, Maitland-Niles, Willock, Smith Rowe, Iwobi, Nelson, Saka
Forwards: Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nketiah
I would look to sign:
Two new centre backs. One in Jan, the other in the summer. Between them and Sokratis, we would hopefully have three stable options, while Holding can recover from injury properly and Mavropanos can develop. The less reliant we are on Koscielny, the better.
Right back competition and at least one new starting left back. Maitland-Niles can cover both positions in case funds are tight, but ideally we'd find someone who can challenge Bellerin and a good all-round left back. This would be a summer thing.
A creative CM/AM. We've got a destroyer (Torreira), a DLP (XHAKA) and a promising B2B (Guendouzi). Now we need a creative 8/10 to round out our options, allowing us to play 4231 or 433. I see this as urgent as a defensive signing and would preferably like one in Jan. If not, it has be to the main priority in the summer, especially if Ozil, Ramsey and Mkhitaryan all leave.
Two new wide players. One would be a creative type (a new Nasri/Rosicky/Arshavin, basically), the other a more direct and pacey player. Iwobi and Nelson would be cover. A few names: Pablo Sarabia (Sevilla), Thorgan Hazard (Gladbach)
At a minimum, that's 13 players out and 7 in. Obviously won't happen in one window, but gives you an idea of the level of investment that's needed.

Totally agree with you about the creative 8/10. We are stale when it comes to midfield creativity in the final third.
Ozil should be on his way out one time or another.

Not counting players coming in, if we can offload that many players in a year let alone one window, I would call it a huge success. With how the market is right now, I will not be surprised if none of our transfer targets come from PL and I am clueless about any potential players.1st name come up will always be Banega and that will be a quick and average fix.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The Mirror (shit source) are linking us with Norwich's 18-year-old right back Max Aarons. Reportedly, he would cost £15m and be sent back to Norwich on loan for the rest of the season.
Aarons has 20 starts for a Norwich team pushing for automatic promotion in the Championship. He's a very promising player, and a lot of good English talent comes out of the Championship.
I'd be happy if we did this.

Remember the times we were thinking about converting Wide forwards/attacking mids to CF Because of clubs failure with singing Top CF?
Of course you do
Now with similar frustration with CB options and not being able to sign top one, i have got obsession with converting DMs or full backs to CB!!

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ornstein has given an update ahead of the Jan window:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46722051
-- Ramsey has Juventus, Bayern, PSG, Real Madrid and Inter interested in him. He hasn't decided yet but will be leaving in the summer as Arsenal are asking for £40m for a Jan sale and nobody's willing to pay that.
-- Funds for new signings are low, hence Arsenal may look to loan in players for the short-term. Denis Suarez is reportedly an option. The relevant section: "Any permanent acquisitions, loan fees and salaries will be drawn from a modest budget and therefore loan deals are more probable, with out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, 24, among those under consideration. That budget is likely to increase substantially in the summer."
-- Club has considered recalling Chambers and Nelson. However, recalling Chambers requires a fee to be paid, while they think Nelson will be better off staying in Germany to continue his development.
-- Club may hire a technical director soon.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It's amazing, isn't it? Why didn't we do that in the summer ffs?
It's a shit show from top to bottom. We're a self-sustaining club who only spent money and didn't bring much transfer revenue in for a good three to four years, and this is the result. A much smaller budget than what we should have and no ability to strengthen our squad when we need to. A bloated squad on high wages we can barely afford.
Just a list of the fuck ups we've made in the transfer market recently:
No wonder we have no money. We spend it so poorly.

Just a list of the fuck ups we've made in the transfer market recently:
- Failed to renew the contracts of Ramsey and Welbeck, but also failed to sell them. That's about £60m worth of talent walking away for free.
- £35m on a shit defender like Mustafi. How much would we get for him now?
- Kolasinac on £120k p/w.
- Spent £17m on Lucas Perez, didn't play him, sold him for £4m.
- Passed up £60m for Alexis Sanchez from City. Swapped him for an ageing, inconsistent player on big wages six months later.
- Gave Ozil a £350k p/w contract and aren't even using him anymore.
- Passed up £20m for Chambers, only to loan him to Fulham a year later.
- Passed up a decent fee for Gibbs, sold him for a low price to West Brom.
- Gave Jenkinson a long-term contract when it was clear he wasn't good enough.
- Let Wilshere leave for nothing. Could have sold him for £40m when the hype was at its peak. Decided to keep him around through several injuries only to release him.
No wonder we have no money. We spend it so poorly.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It is still possible to do big deals but only if we can sell our players or use them as bargaining chips in these deals. For example: let's say we sold Ramsey for 30M, Elneny for 15M, Martinez & Jenkinson for a combined 5M. There you have 50M to spend.
With that, you could get Keylor Navas (14M), Banega (18M), that young Polish keeper Majecki and it would help towards funding a CB.
Looking ahead to the summer: maybe we can find a top CB and convince the club to take Koscielny or Mustafi in exchange to reduce the fee. Maybe we can find an attacking midfielder and use Mkhi to reduce the fee. Etc etc
At this point our sales are tying our hands but it won't be impossible to sign good players. We'll just have to be creative. In any case, I think that labeling all of our guys as shit lost causes is a bit premature. I think a big January is needed and then after a few months stabilizing things we will better be able to assess what we need.

The reality of Arsenal’s 100% ownership by KSE has begun to manifest itself with a communication to all departments asking them to make savings wherever possible.

Emery asked about transfers in his post-match press conference. Said we "could sign one or two" and that there had been no discussions about Gary Cahill.
I've a feeling Denis Suarez will arrive at some point, since it seems doable.

Still have a feeling Banega is Emerys first choice and Denis Suarez on loan is the backup option.
I was thinking that if we had Banega instead of Guendouzi today, we would have a lot more control in midfield and not just while we had the ball. He could really help us get into that top 4.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
There's room for both tbh.
It's been a while since I've seen Suarez play (doesn't help that he doesn't play that much anyway) but his strengths are his technique, close control and dribbling. Weaknesses are a lack of end product and athleticism.
If we're looking for a short-term, wide creative option or occasional 10 then he might be decent. Long term we could do much better.

Yea agree about room for both. Buying Banega and loaning Suarez would work out excellently.
@Urban
Was thinking the same during the match. Guendouzi may come good over the years but I think it's quite clear he isn't really giving us any advantage and having someone like Banega would help us immensely.
Although top 4 is a long long shot.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Why not?
Spurs, City, Liverpool are finishing top 3.
Chelsea have a much better defence than us and united have much better individual talent. Both will finish above us.
it will take at least 3 signings in Jan + our injured players back + less conceding to actually have a chance.
