Calum Chambers is set to sign a new four year deal, according to Ornstein. Emery apparently sees a lot of potential in him and wants him to compete for a first team spot.

Sounds like the spot next Sokratis is very much up for grabs if Chambers does well in pre-season.

Also, Telegraph reckon Ramsey is close to signing a new deal as well.

He extended for two and a half years last summer. At the time, it seemed like we were just protecting his value but evidently the new regime sees something in him.

Think that's harsh. He's not worse than Mustafi and was actually one of our better performers in the final two months of the season when his partner was either Mustafi or Mavropanos.

Ornstein: Arsenal hope to complete Lucas Torreira deal next week. Agree with Sampdoria & 22yo. Medical + signing imminent - depends if he flies straight from World Cup to London or via #URU. Finishes 1st team recruitment but a younger player for future also likely before window shuts.

I don't disagree, we need both.

But if it's between a young CB and a young winger, I'd go with a young winger since we have Holding, Mavropanos and Chambers as our young CB's while having Nelson as our only real wide option.

For the CB position, I would sell Mustafi and replace with a mature CB, who's in his prime but it looks like we're giving him one last chance.

At this stage, I think we could see Lucas Perez stay and have some more first team involvement this season. Teams aren't queuing up to sign him, Emery liked him when he was managing Sevilla and he can cover all three attacking positions.

In which case, you've got Welbeck covering Aubameyng on the left, Iwobi covering Mkhitaryan on the right and Lucas covering Lacazette. Then you've got Nelson and Nketiah as additional cover if need be.

I do think we need a winger because we just don't have that profile in the squad, but I can see why it's not a priority at the moment.

The intention might be to assess the current options for a season and then proceed form there. Welbeck is out of contract next summer, Lucas is just a fringe player, etc.

I hadn't considered Lucas Perez or even Joel Campbell, both were quite good for us when they were here imo. I hope they are not sold if we aren't signing anyone, we'll need those options for Europa and depth in general.
