Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
depends on attacking options but our main target seems to be Fraser so.......

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Maddison isn't a winger though is he? Why would you need an attacking midfielder when you have Özil and Mkhitaryan already?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
both should be offloaded
old and on massive wages and look at their overall contribution
500k per week combined
that should go to 3 top players

Maddison is not a top player though.
The only way we should remove Özil is if we can get a top player as his replacement.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
As much as I like all these English players coming through, buying from mid-table PL clubs is a very pricey venture. We're better off nurturing our own talents or buying from the Championship.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
that way we continue with ' here is the problem we need player A&B
Some other time,OK now its fixed but now we need new players C&D
Basically we ignore problems and when they are addressed new issues has arisen so never a proper team

Unai Emery: “In the Premier League, technical quality without physicality is not enough. City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, all the top teams here are physical and technical. Arsenal need to be the same.”
— Z (@ZR_7G1) April 27, 2019
At least this is acknowledged
Shouldn't expect proper signings though

So he has understood you need more technical players?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
When I look at Kolasinac, Iwobi, Sokratis, Mustafi, Maitland-Niles, XHAKA, and Lacazette, I don't actually think that you lack physicality at the expense of technique.
I seriously think it's the other way around.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
we do lack both
i think the one which can be fixed quicker is physicality
we lack press resistant mid but also someone who covers ground quickly and win duels
likewise in attack someone who can get away from opp defenders and make difference with pace/power
Laca clearly lacking ,i thought Auba would fix that but not a big enough difference
end of the day,i feel emery isn't bothered about having ball dominant attackers but aimless runners who run themselves to the ground

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
What I think Emery means is not that we don't have athletic players, but players who don't have a lot of power, strength, balance and so on, as well as a willingness to be physical and knowledge to use it effectively.
Bernardo Silva at City is the sort of player he's probably referring to. Someone who is excellent technically but plays a physical game also by always closing down, always getting into tackles, etc (same for Silva and De Bruyne, really - City's midfield is lightweight on paper but it doesn't play like it is). Whereas we have Ozil and Mkhitaryan, who are good technicians but fall over at the slightest contact from a player stronger than them. Chelsea have Hazard, who's very difficult to shake off the ball, whereas we have Iwobi, who is strong but lacking technically.
Unfortunately, this profile of player is easily the most expensive on the market, so I'm not sure Emery will get what he wants.
A look at his previous teams suggests this isn't the case. He wants a mix of both. At Sevilla he had a workhorse in Vitolo, but he also had Reyes and Marin. At Valencia he had Silva and Mata. PSG had Di Maria. He's fine with technical attackers as long as they have good work rate to press.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Van De Beek is a system player though
cant expect him to be technical leader in final 3rd
need a balanced front four and then he would be very useful
Technical wide attacking Mid-VDB-Wide forward
that would work nicely
