how 20 years old can have such tax fraud plans? at that time he was fighting to win trophies and ballon dor. Who cared about tax? who cared about extra 4 million in 7-8 years? its just messi's weekly income. they paid back 6-7 millions in fines and you can see messi doesnt even care about fines or money. i'd say he got off light. in places like the united states they lock celebrities up without even blinking for issues relating to tax. especially if said celebrity is an entertainer (ball player, athlete, hip hop act). and many of them try and plead the ignorance claim because they've had shiesty managers or accountants, but uncle sam is no joke (and ignorance is no defense). i'd say because he's messi, and its spain, he got off very very light

In Germany, Uli Hoeneß had to serve his term in prison. Considering the amount of money that was involved for Messi, here he would have been thrown into prison, too.
