Recently, Oliver Kreuzer, the Hamburg's director of sport admitted that the Bundesliga club are keen on the Gunners defender. Djourou spent the second half of last season on loan with Hannover who are reportedly keen on keeping him for another season.

"We would loan him, but we would also buy him, depending on what Arsenal prefer,"he said.

Kreuzer believes his side could offer the 26-year-old more chances than any other club and is confident that a deal will be confirmed

"Hannover played well in Europa League last season, but Hamburg is Hamburg," he told Bild newspaper.
