Yea great signing for Juve. Improvement in their attack with him and Llorente.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I'm really not sure what everyone dislikes about fellaini either. He's got a bit of everything we need.
He's a bit overpriced as of now but knowing wenger he'll negotiate it down a bit. Even if we overpay for fellaini he's versatile and has some intangibles that would make up for it.
He's not the number one option for that role we need but he'd still be better than anyone we have, take a lot of pressure off of our back line, and give us some pretty decent service going forward as well. Would take him any day of the week.

Also any chance Juve is still looking for a striker? or is that it for them. I heard they were looking for 3 strikers but that just seems a bit unlikely.

Well as it stands he is too much for Wenger as well. We won't buy him regardless at the current price. But if he were to able to talk down the fee and Fellaini makes it clear he wants to leave, what would you have him for?Raptorgunner wrote:Lex wrote:What, exactly, is wrong with Fellaini?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Football fans are obsessed with short, technical players that love to fanny about with the ball.
Anyone over 180cm is apparently a ball of lump.
Only exceptions to this rule are if said player is German or Spanish.
Lars Bender and Javi Martinez are apparently technical players according to the average fan when that clearly couldn't be further from the truth.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I think most opposition to signing Fellaini is based off the fact that he'd cost big money to get when he's not necessarily the best option for the position we're trying to fill. A lot of fans just don't like the idea of spending so much on someone who's not really special and a bit rough around the edges; they want the all-round package.
Those players have their place in the game, though, and Arsenal could certainly use Fellaini's physicality in their midfield - not to mention the additional benefits of having a midfielder who can help defend set-pieces, help attack set-pieces and is pretty handy in front goal.
Ultimately, the fee will be quickly forgotten if the player comes in and plays well.

We cant pay more than Cazorla for him, for me 14m-16m is a good for a player who wants to leave, and it looks like we may be the only team interested. 100k a week no way, 80k a week max.
We all turning in to Wenger.

It could be the fact Fellaini has been average everytime he's played DM or CM.... but yeah keep peddling your crap

Nothing is wrong with him, he's exactly what Arsenal needs. A bully in the midfield and a good aerial threat who's good defensively and offensively while he may lack in quickness, he makes up in strength and when to attack

I'd rather have Fellaini for £20 million than Diame for any amount

lol.. Basically my thoughts.Lex wrote:I'd rather have Fellaini for £20 million than Diame for any amount
We almost spent like, £15 million on M'vila last window.. Spending a lot on someone who you know is good is better than spending a little bit less on someone who's crap. Out of all the DMs we've been linked with the only one I'd take over fellaini, without even factoring in price, would be Lars. And I really don't see him coming. So lets just get a guy who can give us some size and strength in our midfield and be done with it.
We as fans also never see the benefits of when wenger saves money. Lets say he opts for a cheaper option than Fellaini does not mean he will spend more elsewhere (within reason of course). Or at least that's how I see it.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It doesn't matter how much he costs if he's a really quality player, Bayern with Martinez, Chelsea with Hazard or PSG with Lucas have proven that. My problem with Fellaini is that I don't think he's an improvement to what we currently have.
He's an average passer, slow, lazy, fouls too much, gets too many red cards, a liability on counter attacks and I could go on and on, admittedly he's very physical, he'll help us in set-pieces and is another option to Arteta but is that enough to displace one of Arteta/Ramsey. I don't think so.
There are so many DM's who could do a much better job for Arsenal, and I believe Wenger is looking at them and not only because they would cost less but because they're you know... better than Fellaini in the DM position.
If we get Fellaini, I will support him and I hope he'll make me look like a fool but I doubt it.

Can we sign Higuain now that Real Madrid have a manager and Juventus signed Tevez? Please?

Depends on who you believe, really. Most sources claim that all that's needed now is for Ancelotti to give the go ahead, but others are saying that we still negotiating a fee with Madrid. Either way, you'd like to think that Arsenal couldn't screw things up from here.

Sky Italia TV channel: The deal to take Gonzalo Higuaín from Real Madrid to Arsenal is very close now. Fee circa £25m.
My good friend @Hashim0307 (who has Sky Italia in his house) confirmed.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I think people are more worried with the fact Fellaini would come for a huge fee and wont be able to put great performances.
Has been used as a second striker, where he has got his recognition, not so much in the DM department.
And being a bit of a bully is good and all, but if he is to play in the Champions League, will he be able to provide a performance worth 20 million?

I personally like Fellaini and also believe he could be an important asset to our midfield, but Arsene would not pay what he wants, nor do i believe he should. If he can't talk him down, I think it would be a bad idea to even fool with him.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If AFC goes back to a system that utilizes a DM, surely we have many references from our past DM's (flamini, Gilberto) for the type of player we should go after. I have never rated Fellaini. I am sure that everyone in this forum can name at least 5 players from the top of our heads that can his position much better and cost way less. And the kid wants 100/week, FFs you can't be serious. How many other clubs are after him?

i think you have already said the answer.. he has a got a bit of everything we need, but is no specialist in anything.. we dont need more of such players especially if their wages are high.. and i dont see Arsenal benefiting much from his SS and aerial capabilities just because we dont play like that.. so we are just looking at his DM/b2b capabilities at Arsenal.. and 20 million and 100k wages is too high for that..
*
ideal price he deserves may be a cost of 15 million on 70-80k wages.. but that will not happen.. it is hard on Everton to lose their best player near the same price they bought him without much profit.. and makes me wonder what made an economy limited club like Everton to spend 15 million for a player from Belgian league..
so as someone pointed out, the blame will be on poor Wenger.. for missing him failing to pay that extra little bit or overpaying for a good player when at his best..

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Seeing as Arsenal player is free at the minute, I might watch the Arsenal-Everton games from this season in full, just to see Fellaini. I remember he scored in the 1-1 at Goodison.

Lille winger Dimitri Payet, linked with Arsenal recently, is set to join Marseille for £7.5m, various reports in France claim.
Ancelotti unveiled to media today at 1pm (UK time). Zidane to be announced as Italian's assistant. Could get an update on Higuaín, too.
CSKA will allow Keisuke Honda to join Milan for as low as £1.7m. Contract ends December. Player wants to leave & seeks £50k-a-week deal.
