Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If we can afford and are willing to splash that kind of money on a DM, we should do it properly by trying to get a real quality DM like Bender or Inler and not the overrated flat-track bully that is Fellaini.
Otherwise there are cheaper and better options in the market, even if it's not a big name. Arteta-Ramsey midfield is fine, just need a backup for Arteta in case he gets suspended or injured.

DC @DLDN22
Why do people include wages in deals? It's not like Arsenal are getting money this year and none next season. £60m pa from new deals
tim payton @timpayton
@DLDN22 we will earn well over a billion pounds in revenue over the next four years, we can afford a decent wage bill
DC @DLDN22
@timpayton Tim I reckon just by re-shaping the current wage bill total we could pay 4/5 players top whack. Needs restructuring
tim payton @timpayton
@DLDN22 Yes, Arsenal can afford to sign three players at £25m each on £150k a week and still not be at our financial limit

Get Jovetic-Higuain AND Lars and call it a day

We have come to a point where, rumors alone is good enough for us.

I won't believe Higuain is an Arsenal player until Barca are chasing him.

I think that's a bit harsh. Obviously Lars would be the dream, he is much better, but he's not coming. I don't think he wants to come here, seems happy where he is, and I just don't see Wenger buying him. So if we can get somebody that will make the squad better in an area we need improvement than Ill be happy.
Fellaini is still quality. He can play in different roles when asked. But I think Wenger will find a certain role for him rather than throw him where ever more quality is needed like moyes did. Hell probably perform better under wenger anyway in the role we need him for.
And we do play in the EPL after all, and his size and strength would be a big boost. We could use someone who is a bit of a bully honestly. We get wrecked on set pieces and are often very ineffective when taking them. He'd be massive defensively and offensively for us there, and for those games where we need a last minute goal to win or save a point, having a threat like him in the box could come in very handy.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It's interesting how a lot of people are saying that £7mil for a 17 year old is a joke when we we paid £12mil for a 16 year old and £15mil on a 17 year old not too long ago. Such is the market nowadays. You'd think that if Wenger is willing to spend big on a kid, there must be something about him.

Here's what I've been told about Papadopoulos situation:Schalke have no intent to sell.Arsenal are not in talks or made any contact.
Papadopoulos will be back training after long injury. Schalke nearly complete with their squad planing.
so thats that

West Ham and Cardiff City want Joel Campbell on loan-but Betis are confident of getting him on loan for another year and are rejecting other alternative signings.
http://goo.gl/XIftm
Where would he like to go?
Betis since he has already played there for a year or West Ham/Cardiff to acclimatise to the English conditions?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal are still in contact with Italian side Fiorentina over the sale of striker Stevan Jovetic.
The very highly-rated 23-year old striker has been heavily linked with a move to us all season, as his boss Arsene Wenger has continuously sent scouts out to keep an eye on his performances.
However, it has been his £25 million price tag that has seen our interest dwindle in the last few weeks and it seemed that we had given up the pursuit, as we switched out attentions to Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.
But reports on the TuttoSport website have claimed that we are still in contact with the Fiorentina stars camp over a possible switch to the Premier League.
Wenger is still a massive fan of his ability and will make a move this summer if he can get the striker at the right price.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Everton star Marouane Fellaini is reportedly keen on joining Arsenal in the summer, according to the Daily Mail. The 25-year-old has been one of the outstanding players during David Moyes' last season with the Toffees, scoring 11 goals and registering five assists in 31 Premier League starts.
Fellaini is one of the top summer targets for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as the Frenchman is looking to strengthen the Gunners' squad for the new season. The Belgium international is currently on a weekly wage of £75,000 at Goodison Park.
The report claims midfielder is looking for a salary of £100,000 a week at the Emirates, which would see him, be on the same pay as that of current Arsenal players, Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal are said to be tracking promising French full back,Benjamin Mendy who has made quite an impression on many of Europe’s top clubs this past year, with many scouts taking a very close look at him.
Arsenal appear to be the team to have made the first move, offering a reasonable £2.5 million for his services but Le Harve are holding out for a sizeable fee of £5 million.
Mendy played 30 games for Le Harve last season after graduating from their academy in 2011 and he has interested Arsenal before as they were apparently close to signing him just before he signed his first professional contract with Le Harve.
Juventus are likely to miss out on the Mendy especially with the news that the defender would prefer a move across the channel to England.
Le Havre president Jean Pierre Louvel told RMC: ”He is most likely going to go and play in England.”
Mendy has also stated his desire to play in the Premier League.
He said: “I have always dreamt of playing in England so I am happy to be linked with English clubs.
“I know it is a big step to go there straight away, but if you want to progress in Europe you need to play at the top level.”
It appears that it isn’t just a straight race between the clubs as other Premier League clubs such as Sunderland, Cardiff City and Ligue 1 side Lyon are taking an interest in this hot prospect.

Apparently Juve paid €9-12m for Tevez. "Bit part" player at Man City or not, that's a great bargain.
