Re: Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund discussion
You'd think most football fans would know this know. When you lead a tie by such a big lead there is a different mentality going into the second leg for both sides. Madrid have no option to attack heavily and Dortmund know they just have to protect a lead. It was the momentum carrying them. We've seen it many times in football. Just this season we saw it with arsenal against bayern and even Gala against madrid.

Varane over Ramos for me....
Ramos let Lewa go too many times and if he actually took his chances he would have scored 4 again and it would be considered a terrible game from Ramos.

Lol at Madrid talking about fluke after close result; it wasnt that close til the last 10 minutes. in fact albeit playing with less intensity, Dortmund looks comfortable up until then. Lewa being a fluke but Dortmund still deserved to go through, how? If he scored 1 less goal then Dortmund would be effectively gone. Very subtle reasoning there.

Dude the first 25 minutes was all Madrid. We could've been up 3-0

Thing is about Ozil...
Often he's too scared to shoot. Of all the times he gets the courage to shoot, It's in an important match like this.
Face it Mesut, Your finishing is crap haha.

Re: Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund discussion
I agree a lot with the above posts, Real credit to them, up their game and Dortmund didnt dominate as much, especially towards the end when Real scored, moemntum was really with them.
But the game wasnt reflected by the scoreline, it was pretty even. I dont think Real with the better team. Real did try something different in this game the least Mou can do, hes not fool, but not a magician, Dortmund is just so good its hard to turn it around
Its weird to see Di MAria these days though, hes class, but maybe its gotta to do with being in and out of the team? His final balls and link up play is just not what it was when he was a monster for Real for a long while.
Modric adds to the midfield control, but integration with Ozil etc still not looking the best.
And a huge thing is, dont forget that GOZTE WAS INJURED after 10 mins, which is a huge swing to Reals favour~

Whether you want to or not your level drops when you know this.
Its unavoidable, players are human beings after all.
What are you saying bro? How come Ronaldo didn't play well? How come dí Maria didn't play well? What about the rest of their players who were pretty average (e.g. what was Essien's contribution lol)?
If the whole team played well, I'd have said you're right. But Modrić was Madrid's best player. It is criminal to say he played well because BVB were complacent. They were not half as complacent as Bayern were against Arsenal.

Varane was playing true defense. Ramos was jumping into the attack in the 2nd half and was obviously caught at times. Varane saved a lot of things by getting in the way when he was outnumbers to allow teammates to come back. BUT, Ramos getting physical threw Lewa off. He was uncomfortable and, hence, missed. You have to get physical with finesse CFs and Pepe did not.

It isn't though, the difference between this week and last week was Lewa choked his chances away.
Had f*ck all to do with Pepe or Ramos, he still had his chances against Ramos he just didn't take them against Pepe he did.

Re: Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund discussion
however much ive tried to see the faults in dortmund of which i think there aree many, you have to give credit to them, their energy and team spirit, and counter attacking ability was unbelievable . and reus- he will surely be a balon d'or winner
Madrid could easliy have gone through tonight but I think overall football won .

Varane looked good again today, and I hope he never learnts the dirtiness of his senior pair partners, Ramos was a disgrace again today for constant elbowing into Lewand's face. Although he is much better than Pepe of cos
Varane really does have a big future in him, just wonder what kind of defender he will develop into though, the leading one like a captain or the compliment one.

what is with all this complacent b.s . at that level no team is complacent, they are either confused about how to apprach the game, or tired, or being outplayed . these guys are top professionals playing in the champions league ffs, no one is complacent

@Messiah u could be up 3-0 but Dortmund could level it 3-3 by the end of 1st half as well, like I said selective reasoning.

They clearly are though....
Do you really think Galatasaray and Arsenal would beat Bayern and Madrid if they wasn't.... scratch that do you really think if this 2nd leg tonight began at 0-0 that Dortmund wouldn't perform better?
These things happen.... its mentally impossible to beat teams when you know that you don't need to.
Complacency happens, they are human beings after all and not robots.
I expect the same to happen with Bayern tomorrow night too but Barca have too much to do to take advantage.

how many chances did he have when ramos marked him opposed to pepe? pepe made it look easy for lewa. ramos made it difficult.
lewa had maybe that 1 good chance that hit the bar, and i think varane was on him at that point anyways.
but in the first leg he had a handful of chances and took them.
that was the difference, less space 2nd leg. more space 1st leg.

Yeah man the looks on the faces of BVB player's were ones of calm in the final minutes
Fair play to them though. I hope they win the CL but they could have been knocked out tonight and it wouldn't have been for lack of trying.

Re: Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund discussion
It's not complacency.
It's one team going full out on the attack while the other is protecting a big lead. In american football, it's called the "prevent defense"... which incidentally, most fans say does nothing more than prevent you from winning.
Just like in the first game... Madrid were trying to manage the score as opposed to try and win.
Once the momentum goes one way, it's hard to get it back.
