Modric considering one more year!

Latest news is Modric is thinking of one more year extension. First it was Kroos and that extension sounds like it will be done. Having these two around helped ease the younger midfielders into starting roles. In Kroos’ case he has had a good year and has contributed a lot. But Modric, he is showing his age. Although he still has moments of greatness, they have become much fewer. If he stays on, it will hurt the others. They all are ready for starter status, Valverde, Camavinga and Tchouameni. Add in Bellingham as it now looks like Carlo will play a 4-2-1-3 formation. It has been speculated that Mbappe is willing to play the central role with Vini and Rodrygo. And there are 3 talented forward options off the bench; Endick, Dias and Joselu, leaving Bellingham to be part of a three man midfield. That means, either Tchouameni or Camavinga goes to the bench or are rotated. Add Kroos into the mix and already there is an isuue of playing time. Having Modric around will just further exasperate the situation! It looks like Güler will go out on loan and Ceballos will go to either Atleti, or Milan, otherwise it will be a a huge issue.

Thoughts?

I see it similar to what players like Dudek, Carvalho, Marcelo, and a bunch of other veterans' roles became toward the end of their times with Madrid where they were used as mentors/good presences in the team more so than having any material playing roles
