Re: Is Juve a top team now?
boy you crazy! Bonucci world class? LOL! he is the most error prone defender we have bro. He plays good is because he plays in a 3 man backline but i assure bro in a 2 back cb only team he would choke bro.
He has really improved a lot this year ill give you that, but he is in a lesser scale than barz and chiellini

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
I don't think hes world class either. I think hes close though, and if you followed Juvenal more you would know that for 2/3rds of last season (our undefeated season), we played with a 4-man backline of Lichsteiner-Barzagli-Bonucci-Chiellini. So no, he would not fail in a 2 CB system.
Bonuccis only real problem is that hes incredibly unlucky. So many deflection goals go in against us, and most of the time its Bonucci that deflects it.

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
my bro, i watch juventus religiously every weekend for the past 6 years bro. i even started taking italian classes, almost up a year now.
Yes, Bon Bon has played in our "famous 4 3 3", but if you see when he plays at la nazionale, which is a 2 back only centerback line, where abate and chiello go forward to assist, bonucci is really exposed.
If you get to watch all of juventus conceded goals for the last 2 years, youll see Bon Bon wandering around doing something he shouldnt be doing! Lol
whether is bad positioning, bad reflections, bad tackle or just plain bad luck, he is there when we concede bro.
Its like De Ceglie this year, everytime he played man we got scored from the left side. If PDC played 10 games, we got sxored from the left from 8.
Bon Bon went from being a above decent player to a good player this year, but thats about it.

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
Hes much more than a good player. And btw, hes was our best centerback in the Euro, including the semi's and the final where we used a 4-man backline. He was simply excellent in the euro, and was also great last year in the 4-3-3. The only time hes been really below par is two seasons ago, but he was still very raw then and playing with Marco Motta sure as hell didn't help.
Bonucci is not world class, but hes not far off either.

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
Juventus are a great team and are more likely to be the next power house than Real-Madrid, they have an effective system, they have the players and a good coach. They are very similar to Bayen, just that Bayern project started 2009 and their started just 2011 and are still getting better.
If Juventus got Galatasary, Malaga, Real Madrid or PSG then they could have made it to semi final, I feel at the moment only Barcelona(who are still arguably the best team in the world), Bayern and Dortmund could have beaten them, otherwise they are a very strong side. Yes of course Madrid have better players on paper(paper of course), but they don't have a system, Mourinho is not dedicated to the club and is not willing to implement a system that will last for many years to come in Madrid, this is the reason why clubs like Juventus and Dortmund are better than Madrid because they have a system and Madrid don't.
Juventus, Bayern, Barcelona and Dortmund will dominate Europe in the next few years, I am extremely confident that Juventus will improve next season and the season after they will improve again, they are heading towards the right direction and if you look at Bayern 2009-10,11 they are very comparable to these current juventus side who only needed few signings to become a great side.
Season by season, sooner rather than later, they will fix their left-Back problem within the players they already have in the club, it's comparable to how bayern had Left-back problem and they didn't even realise that the solution to the problem lies within the club(Alaba)
So maybe Chiellini or even Caceres/Pogba are the solution to that problem, but anyways I am confident that it will be fixed amongst the players they already have, sooner rather than later.
However this is not their number 1 priority now, the real problem is getting a clinical striker that can hold the ball upfront and a striker that can play from the wings. They already have Vucinic but he is not sufficient, they have already signed a striker better than Matri and Quag, (Llorente) all they need to do now is try their best to sign Nani who is only 26 rather than signing 31years old Ibrah and if they have enough money add Suarez to it.
In short Juventus are only 2 years, a solution to leftback, Nani, and Suarez away from becoming European benchmark and matching Bayern, Barcelona and Dortmund.

Swanhends love your sig bro, LOL.
Ostracised, lets count together bro.
Buffon - WC
Chiellini - WC
Barzagli - WC
Pirlo - WC
Vidal - WC
at least those 5 players are WC guaranteed bro.....at least thats what i and most ppl think.
You could debate me Marchisio, Bonucci and Lichsteiner.....but those 5 players are really WC quality. they can be in any team and would be first starting players.

Pirlo can't just walk into a team and start, he has to have the team built around him because he is liability without the ball
Would Vidal walk into Bayern, Barca or Dortmund? Doubtful
Would Barzagli walk into Madrid, Dortmund, Bayern, or even City? Ehhh
Buffon is good but getting old and competition is fierce at GK...

Bayern have been trying to get Vidal for a long time, even Madrid want him.
If you don't think Barzagli is better than Kompany, Nastasic, Ramos, Pepe, Van Buyten etc etc then you're just letting your dislike of Juventus cloud your judgement big time.
You could say the same about Xavi being a system player but he's still WC without a shadow of a doubt. If anything it's a testamony to the player that they're good enough to warrant building a team around.
Name 5 better RB's than Lichtsteiner.

Buffon isn't WC
Vidal arguable
Marchisio is very good but WC, nope
Barazagli is great
Chiellini nope
Pirlo yes
So 2 imo

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
Vidal is definitely WC .
Failing to see how Buffon isn't still WC.
Marchisio is on the brink, one more great season and I'll have no problem putting him up there.
Barzagli has to be WC. For the past 2 seasons he's been amazing.
Chiellini is WC all day long for me.
Hell, Bonucci has been in World Class form for a while. But calling him WC would result in alot of laughter for some reason. I think people seem to remember him only for a poor 2010/11 season.

good at organising his defence but thats it. Operating at about 60% of what he used to be. IMO he is the best GK I have ever seen, and this is coming from a UNted fan. He just isn't anywhere near that level and has a blunder in him. van der sar was better before he retired.

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
I'll agree he's not quite what he used to be. But in my opinion he's still at WC level.
I'd say, as long as Pirlo doesn't regress soon we have:
Barzagli
Buffon
Chiellini
Vidal
Pirlo
Playing at world class level. Pirlo might fall off a bit with age, but Marchisio and Bonucci have been outstanding for 2 seasons now. And surely after a 3rd season at the same level at least one of them could be considered WC. I think the whole team would look better with a real strike force.

Bayern were trying to get Vidal....They have Martinez now, and Martinez > Vidal
Madrids midfield sucks, so that doesn't say much
Abradfsdlsl;jkl wrote:If you don't think Barzagli is better than Kompany, Nastasic, Ramos, Pepe, Van Buyten etc etc then you're just letting your dislike of Juventus cloud your judgement big time.
Were talking about the same Barzagli who is a career journeyman you picked up for pennies because no one else wanted him, right?
Kompany, Nastasic, Ramos, Varane, Subotic, Hummels, Rio >>
And you can lulz at Bayerns CBs all you want, but 3 CL finals in 4 years is no fluke, and their defensive record this season speaks for itself
Abralkjals wrote:You could say the same about Xavi being a system player but he's still WC without a shadow of a doubt. If anything it's a testamony to the player that they're good enough to warrant building a team around
Xavi is no system player...He could start where he wants: He's mobile, can press fiercely, and while no Makalele, his tackling is certainly way better than Pirlos
Abrakalka wrote:Name 5 better RB's than Lichtsteiner.
I'm gonna skip this question because everyone knows I hate Lichtsteiner and I would probably take 10 RBs over him

Re: Is Juve a top team now?
Apart from Hummels who has been just as good as Barzagli for the past 2 seasons, Barzagli is currently a level above everybody else on that list. Basically because Barzagli wasn't great before we purchased him he can't be great now right? riddiculous logic.
Pirlo was free and Milan didn't want him. Pirlo must be worse than Muntari right?
And I don't give a damn if you hate a player, what you think of a players personality has absolutely no effect on how good they are

Quick Poll: All opinions welcome
How many on here think Barzagli is a top 5 CB? How many think Lichsteiner is a top 5 RB?
Neither for me
Both for Tom

Well Barazgli and Licht have had a fantastic two seasons, so unless people are ranking players over the span of their entire career (Which doesn't give an accurate picture of where players rank now) Barzagli has been one of the best, as has Licht.
