There's no question, had Niang scored that goal instead of hitting the post, it would flipped the match 360 degrees.Lord Spencer wrote:Congratulations for the victory guys; the best team won.
Messi played as Messi for the first time in a few weeks, and we saw how much a difference that is. The gulf between the two teams was obvious.
I think this match proves how pivotal Villa is to Barca's game plan, and really shows how less dangerous Barca becomes when they don't play with actual strikers.
It also shows how much useful Xavi and Ineista becomes. I now agree with Dani completely in how Cesc ruins the shape of the team.
Fortune favors the brave most of the time, it did for us last match, but it was yours this time. Not to say that your victory was lucky or anything, just saying how in other days Niang may have scored, and how football is such a fickle sport. The fact that you overturned a two goal difference is a testament to this team's strength.
The goals were fantastic, especially the first one.
Also, I did not expect us to win this tie, and as I said before, it is Barca who would lose if they choose to. They sure looked like choosing two the last couple of weeks.
I am quite happy with our performance in the two legs, and this match shows how much experience we lack, and how our make-shift mid and defense are ultimately not up to task. We might beat any better team in a good day, but we would most likely lose.
Again, congratulations guys, I would stay and chat, but am too upset for understandable reasons.
Men of the match:
1- Messi.
2- Xavi.
3- Villa.

Re: FC Barcelona vs AC Milan - Aftermath
given how poor we were in the beginning of the season, i guess loosing to barcelona like this... i think its ok... after all no body expected us to beat them in first leg.
we gotta finish strong in serie a and look forward to new recruits coming in our first team...
but i would love to see barcelona play dortmund next round.. and bayern barcelona final...
or real madrid barcelona could be very interesting

Re: FC Barcelona vs AC Milan - Aftermath
The haters won't admit it but when Barca plays like this they are unstoppable.
Luckily for the rest of the world its physically and mentally impossible to play like this all the time.
Pressing was immense, BusiXaviesta was ridiculous and playing Messi behind Villa knowing full well Milan would be shit scared of leaving Villa alone this giving Messi loads of space was a masterstroke and should be used more often against teams who defend deep.
They did, the plane got smashed.

Then you must be living in another world then.
I wouldnt say Italian league is continously on the decline OR already on its way up either. Its in a rebuilding phase still and will take a lot of years to reach its way back to the top given the rapid rate at which the other leagues are progressing.

A better team could have parked the bus better or their striker could have finished a 1v1.

did they even need to press... we just game possession away all the time so cheaply its like we were inviting them to score...
one thing for sure is against barcelona... any team get forced to play defensive... overly defensive... and i think fear of those 3 players u mentioned xavi messi iniesta..
play ur own game.. then we have seen several times they actually come back all of them to defend...

Gratz to Barcelona and their fans, well deserved victory. All of Barcelona's goals were beautiful and their overall play seemed more direct which made them more threatening. Also I'm very happy to see Villa back to his best.
Hope we won't draw you guys next round .

There is no progress in other leagues, expect Bundesliga maybe.
PRemier league is suffering, la liga is still a league of two teams, money cant buy Ligue One success and bundesliga only has bayern. dortmund is emegred in last three-five seasons.

Re: FC Barcelona vs AC Milan - Aftermath
I agree Mole, Barca playing like that, with real forwards, is the scariest team out there. Not 5 mids, but 3 genuine forwards. Milan got picked apart and deconstructed, and while the defense isnt as reassuring as it used to be, the attacking power is immense.
But mole, realize that this Milan team is not good at all, and have no place at this stage of the tourney. they are a europa league level side that rolled their luck as far as they could. They had 0 weapons to stop barca. their fullbacks are not good, neither are their CBs, and an attack of Niang, SES and Boatend is laughable.
They got pwnded, but MIlan managed to play enough to let me think that a better team would have given barcelona a lot more trouble.

Re: FC Barcelona vs AC Milan - Aftermath
after such a game and you can still see posts like:
"barca was lucky with ref decisions"
"iniesta is overated period"
etc. Idiocy reigns in this forum.
Anyways. Great game. That's what you get when you bench Fab and start Villa.
And it would have been even better if Alexis or Tello had started instead of Pedro

-Madrid and Barca will still dominate.
-EPL has all the cash in the world
-Now with the emergence of bundesliga teams and cash rich PSG(And Monaco from next season) ,Italian teams are left behind admittedly.
Either you must be blind or you're just living in plain denial. It is going to take a lot of years to even claim that 4th spot ,i mean a lot of years literally.

The only time Milan got at the back 4 was when they sat back at 3-0....
You can talk about the defense all you want but if you can't keep the ball for me than 5 secs because of the ridiculous pressing then you won't do anything.
Also the defense wouldn't be as open in a 0-0 game, so you can't compare.
None the less no team can live with the pressing and fluidity when they have BusiXaviesta in the middle and a combination of Messi and Villa its been proven before and proven again.
Also Nick i agree another team would cause them more problems but i still highly doubt anyone could beat them when they play like this.

So you agree that la liga is a two side league?
Cash wont buy success - look at City. Traditions matter.
Emerged bundesliga? umm.. there are teams that come and go. remeber Werden? or wolfsburg? where are they now? and shakle isnt qualifing for CL next season..
Buying success with money is pathetic. PSG will never earn the respect of footballing world.
