Before the Oscars lie to you tonight, and spread their petty politics, let me tell you what's up...

The Menu - 8.2
I really enjoy Anya Taylor-Joy's filmography. She's a 95% hit on most of her stuff.
Unlike many, I didn't love The Northman. After watching Uthred's Last Kingdom thought the viking in the Northman story was so basic and simple.

Speaking of the Last Kingdom. The movie to wrap up Uhtred's story dropped over the weekend. I gave it a watch. Felt like an extended episode. Solid, but didn't wow me like some parts of that show did.

Think he always said he will make 10 films and then be done. Hopefully he'll make more.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Tarantino is getting redundant maybe it's a good thing that he stops at 10
His last film was very bad imo almost a parody of his own style. Absurdly slow paced, dialogues clearly meant to be recognized as cult classic. The mandatory violent scene by the pool in the end was a joke. Overall boring
Somehow more excited about Scorsese's next film than Tarantino's

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
i wouldn't say he is getting redundant, he is just maturing, and his wisdom and tender heart is showing more with that aging... you can see that in his last two films... Hateful Eight was his most philosophical film, and OUATIH was his most humanist (heart-warming) film.
Even his next (and self-proclaimed final) film will be about a female film reviewer from the 80s. That doesn't sound really Kill Bill esque, but of course it will still feature some of his usual trademarks.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
News came out few months ago it would be about Pauline Kael, but i just googled and saw Tarantino clarified it would be about a dude who wrote for a Porno magazine

The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s ‘NAPOLEON’ has been released.

The film releases on November 22 in theaters. pic.twitter.com/2PvDJxe0BQ
Not a French accent in sight unfortunately, but that's a part of the historical immersion that Scott doesn't really incorporate in his movies, unless it's Black Hawk Down with a bunch of British actors doing hilariously cartoonish American accents.

He looks a little old to be Napoleon right? He was just 35 when he was crowned and here he looks like a seasoned general from the start

Old man's still got it, The Last Duel was my favourite movie of 2021. Looking forward to this.

That's my thought as well. He has the energy for the role, but this would've been perfect for him maybe 10-15 years ago.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
i was thinking of this a few days ago, if you asked me in 2015 i still would have said Christian Bale is the best actor of his generation, but he is so bad at picking good movies to star in these days, that i think his allure and impact has fallen off, while Leo has went and done exactly the opposite. He hasn't had a Body of Game (2007) since well... 2007, ever since then it's been hit performance after hit performance.
1. Leonardo DiCaprio
2. Christian Bale
3. Joaquin Phoenix
i think that's the undisputed top 3 of their generation... inb4 Arquitecto comes in here and says Brad Pitt is easily number 1

Definitely agree with the list. All interchangeable too. Not sure who pushes them? Gyllenhaal?
If you consider male and female then Amy Adams for sure

Gyllenhaal has also made underwhelming choices recently, but yes.
1. Amy Adams
2. Natalie Portman
3. Michelle Williams
4. Reese Witherspoon
5. Emma Stone

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Brad Pitt, Di Caprio, De Niro is my top 3. It helps that they almost always have great roles by default.
Then you have honorable mentions Clint Eastwood, Jet Li, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Colin Farrell, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lawrence
Somehow i remember the Hollywood stars of my child/teenage years but fast like that cannot name a single actor younger than 30
