can already tell i will dislike it because i don't like any of Robert Eggers' films... but i probably will still watch it
I'm seeing it Thursday but it *is* quite different from his previous films even just based on the trailer. Feels genuinely exciting to get an epic, pretty high budget revenge thriller/action film that isn't Marvel though

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Just watched 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'
wow wow wow
It has to be one of the best films i have ever seen. High praise but it's just so incredible. I went in with 0 exposure and i came out with these incredible emotions. What a film man. Just floored by it. I have never seen anything like like this in my life. There are not many films that can showcase philosophical, social, satirical, surreal and abstract themes all in one without being pretentious but this film goes towards every inch of it and delivers. The acting, characterisation and visuals were all fantastic. It's rare to have multiple characters in a film where everyone actually have a purpose and even the extras feel familiar towards the end of it. For a film set in just 2 locations, it never felt boring for a second.
Hilarious at parts. Emotional at parts. Deeply philosophical at parts. But the acting man. Not a single bad performance.
10/10

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
yea currently one of the highest, if not the highest rated, movie to come out this year... but still nowhere to be found in Namibian cinemas.
People in this country are so fucking dumb... if you put those kinds of movies or most of the awards season movies on they won't go and see it. Only way the theatres here make money is by showing superhero movies, bland C+ comedies, the Fast and Furious series, Dwayne The Rock, Kevin Hart and fucking cartoon movies as McAgger would say. I fucking hate it here!

Top Gun: Maverick is my favorite film of the year so far. The flying sequences are of course incredible but that was a guarantee. The story has a lot of heart which gave the film a lot of emotion. The characters are all great and the visuals are fantastic. Tom Cruise really is incredible.

Literally watched the first Top Gun to refresh myself up to the franchise and its aged quite well.
Very hyped up for the film as no one expected it to do so well with the suicide of Tony Scott but Cruise himself basically directs the film as Edge of Tomorrow is an example.
He is phenomenal. Mf is 60

Lion King remake: A+
Just amazing. It's like watching those BBC documentaries, even the talking animations are somehow realistic. They kept almost everything from the original film except a few modified dialogs. Funny how i remember so much from a film last seen 15 years ago.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
35 mins into Everything Everywhere All at Once.... aaaannd what is this?
Feels like a cartoonish spin-off of the multiverse superhero subgenre. Everything is mediocre, from the action to the sci-fi gadgets and what's with the fast pace and the caricature characters? unbelievable... beginning to trust mainstream culture's film ratings less and less. I guess all it takes these days is "insert inclusivity", attach it to a red-hot studio like A24, and boom the ratings will come in.

Very much made with the Knives Out crowd in mind.
I'm not much of a fan of whodunits, but this one looks worth a watch.

I got that distinct vibe along with a bit of Wes Anderson style quirky silliness.

100%. Is it too late to become a fighter pilot and join top gun?
Basically a perfect sequel to a movie made decades earlier in a sense. Its just enough of a sequel and a remake to pull off being a great blockbuster without relying solely on nostalgia. Tom Cruise is a despicable person but an incredible filmmaker.

i really want Blonde to be a W because i'm a fan of Andrew Dominik and Ana de Armas... but then i see now it will be a Netflix film... but then i have hope again because of NC-17 rating and i recall ROMA was a black and white Netflix film too

More excited for Oppenheimer than Ive been excited for any Nolan film. Glad he didn't go for another inception re-do cause Tenet just plain sucked.
Cillian Murphy is world class and seeing him in such a starring role is odd but he will knock it out. Teaser sent a chill down me spine.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Nope is Jordan Peele's weakest film to date
Rating: 3/5
Review:
As Jordan Peele's interest for spectacle increases, it seems his care for narrative substance decreases. Here are some of my main problems:
- Little depth to characters that are merely coloured with simple washaway comedy traits
- Invasive narrative interludes and flashbacks that just really throw you off instead of adding to the horror mystique
- The chapters, because why?
- Too much allegorical posturing just like the end of Us (2019), instead of focusing more on simple tradeoff beats to make all the important moments in the film land

first time i've heard of All Quiet on the Western Front... i've been numb to war movies for a while now, so can't say i'm hyped. Last decent war movie i recall was Hacksaw Ridge.

I'm assuming you're not an avid book reader as most people have read All Quiet on the Western Front at some point in their life, the book is consistently considered the greatest war novel ever written, It is taught in school and pretty much beloved by everyone who has read it.
