Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Happy birthday in advance
LOTR trilogy is indeed a classic to be re-watched yearly
I'm always amazed at how consistent it is, unlike Harry Potter another goat saga which only the first 2 films really catch the vibe of the books imo. If i remember correctly the actor who played Dumbledore died AND the studios which hosted the Hogwarts scenery was burned down due to arson before they could film the Prisoner of Azkaban. I was always disappointed by the films after that.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Thanks
Yeah last year I incorporated the extended Hobbit Trilogy as well. I'm honestly not overly found of those movies, but the extended Battle of Five Armies is genuinely an excellent movie. Night and day from the theatrical version. I don't think I'll watch all 6 movies this year though.
As for Harry Potter, I honestly prefer the later movies to the earlier ones though Prisoner of Azkaban remains the best of the series to me. Deathly Hallows part 2 is right behind that.

Alien Romulus... normally I'd wait for better available versions but couldnt help it n watched it the first ever available n generally liked it... never will be as good as the first 2, n different n similar to the them as well as the others all at the same time... so the makers obviously purposely tried to mix all the goods things of all the previous films into this one n then add some, something often done in todays movies, but still well done overall...
Not sure if should give away too much is good, but that creature in the end is pretty fking frightening

Yea, I had to watch an explainer afterwards which helps to appreciate it more... though the box office was horrible... thats the way it is, often its popular junk, but good things not too many ppl appreciate

I saw the trailer and I believe I noticed that they dropped any pretension that they would follow the heady themes of Prometheus and Alien Covenant that had the character of David at the center of everything. I decided not to even try watching.
Alien and Aliens, along with Prometheus and Alien Covenant are all good watching (Alien Covenant a little less so) as they have all kinds of substance imo.
Rest of the films, despite not watching them , come off to me as just Hollywood sequel cash grabs.
The moment we start thinking of Alien films as "action films" or "horror films" is the moment things go bad imo.
