Upgraded my GPU because warranty was going out. I'm the lucky one who bought 5700 XT with 420€ about two years ago before the crypto boom. Got 700€ from it now. Laughing

Had to fork additional 220€ to get 3070 Gaming OC LHR with 4 year warranty.

Super impressed for fps improvements. Without DLSS @5120x1440

RDR2 +40%
TWW2 +82-106% (battle-campaign)
Skyrim +58%

AMD announced dope new Ryzen 6000 laptop APU's with RDNA2 graphics. Far Cry 6 60fps@1080p (FSR), and 24 hours of video battery life. Shocked

Also the last hurrah for AM4 platform with 3D V-Cache Ryzen 5800X3D. I'll probably upgrade my 3600 to it. Zen 4 will only come 22H2 and probably late. And DDR5 still isn't really economically viable option.

Well these are APU's, graphics integrated into CPU chips. Discreet graphics "gaming" laptops have always been somewhat viable option. You just needed to get used to awful battery life and terrible noise from the fans. APU's can be used in more slim form factor laptops. And because the whole chip is built on 6nm, perf/watt should be the best yet.

Steam Deck will use custom older Zen 2 APU, but with the same new RDNA2 integrated GPU.

I am on RTX 2060 and even with 2020 games, the GPU temp goes haywire on High/Ultra settings on some games. It would be interesting if games are developed wrt to the GPUs out there rather than the demand for higher graphics so that the game would take a specific setting and function normally within a range of a driver rather than burning everything in your build.

It's probably your GPU fans, and or thermal paste that has gone bad. That or bad case cooling. You shouldn't be able to overheat non overclocked GPU with game settings alone. Btw how high temps are we talking here? The design temp can be like 90c to 100c.

Goes to 87c or 86c with good games, and a google search like usual makes me feel like my build has cancer. On touching the keyboard at that point, it is extremely hot, not burning hot, burning enough to cook an egg white

Oh you've a laptop? Those can get hot too, but same things help, cleaning the fans, and replacing thermal paste. That's what I always did back in the day with Thinkpads when they started sounding like blow dryers, dust can block tiny vents quite quickly.

Also lmao at the size of the new GPU's.

Good catch on the laptop, yes I do need to revisit the cleaning. I do still feel, games do not consider builds that each persona (low, average, best, streamer) would have outside their performance on their recommended settings.
