Re: The Movie House - Part 11
an actor mate of mine who i shared a residence and one class with in my first year at University, stars in a short film that just last night won a Student Academy Award!!!!!!!! the director of the film was crowned with the award over online ceremony by no less, Spike Lee!!!!!!
said mate also won a Best Supporting Actor award at a festival for his role just last week
so proud and excited for the team!
The film is called Umama, from what i understand it's about an elderly lady who takes care of homeless/neglected children in her township like they're her own which is such a strong and accurate representation of many African mums. It will probably be on VOD next year and i'll share it here.

Ian Mckellen really would have been perfect. He could have pulled of both the calm wise old sage and the more aggressive robust side. Just should have swallowed their pride and say "yeah we need Gandalf"

Ehh it's been trending in that direction for sometime, if I'm honest. Good for him.
As for Dumbledore - I liked Richard Harris alot, but we only had him for 2 movies out of the 8. Gambon made the role his. I truly would've liked to see how Harris approached Dumbledore in the later movies though and the complexity behind how he used Harry for his own means.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Doesn't feel real to me given I have been speculating for over 17 years now on who can play Solid Snake.
Mixed thoughts on Isaac. Problem is Snake has such a distinct appearance and so build around Hayter's legendary performance its hard to imagine anything else.
Second I feel Isaac not only looks a bit too old for him but not really the type who would play such a role.
I wanted Christan Bale or someone else speculated but good news is:
This is why us fans would usually make terrible films and why fan fiction almost always sucks.
Isaac is a top class actor who will bring his own to the role that is for sure. I am worried about the director who doesn't exactly have a stellar resume.
Secondly it never even made sense to make an MGS film given it was about the gameplay and convoluted story that would not even translate well onto the screen.
And I doubt Isaac is even a gamer unlike Cavill who based himself off Geralt, the former who played Witcher 3 over three times. So I do hope we see him studying whatever impression of Snake there is.
To be honest I have no idea what to expect.

The film is going to be shit regardless. MGS series itself is a film so there was never need to make a cinematic version.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
MGS' plot is outdated in the film industry/ Any mission impossible > MGS plot. Horizon Zero Dawn however would have loooots of potential as TV-Series.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Indeed they do not compare given MI is a pure spy thriller and MGS goes beyond espionage and into deeper themes for sure.
A Metal Gear film was needed back when the graphics were too low-res to tell a story but since they advanced (and have the best cut scenes in gaming) I see little redemption in it.

Mank was...okay. Nowhere near as good as most off Fincher's filmography. Felt Gary Oldman was horrible miscast, he is way too old to play the main character. Him and Amanda Seyfried were supposed to be the same age But his monologue at the end was a superb acting performance. Hope Netflix makes more Fincher movies.

Without Oldman Mank would be a terrible film.
The chameleon that he is he carried tf out of it but otherwise a disappointment.
