Glad to see that "This is the End" is getting fantastic reviews, I was hoping it would be the best comedy of the year and it looks like it's going to live up to its billing.

Does anyone think they are starting kill some of the Superman buzz? I really enjoyed the original trailers and the style and theme they were going for, but now it's starting to make me doubt how awesome this movie is going to be.

The Place Beyond the Pines is a good film. Starring Ryan Gosling (great performance) and Bradley Cooper (not that far behind).

Basically its just about this cop who kills a criminal in a shoot-out and then we see how it this event affects the life of the cop, the cop's son and the son of the criminal. Definitely worth a watch imo.

I just finished watching Warrior for the third time. It is such a beautiful, beautiful film. It's ending is absolutely perfect.

When Brendan (Edgerton) said to Tommy (Hardy) "Tap out Tommy, tap out. It's over. Its over. I love you Tommy" that's when Tommy just gave up and let all that frustration and anger, which drove him through the tournament, out.

Saw The Internship with the girlfriend. It was what it was. Consider it the tech version of Wedding Crashers prior to seeing it and nothing changed my mind about that.

That and I couldn't stop staring at Owen Wilson's crooked, broken nose....like I do in just about all of his movies Laughing

Two Untitled Marvel Studios Films Get a Release Date

The Movie House - Part 3 Marvel-Studios-Logo-Dragonlord

Disney has announced release date debuts for their upcoming films, most notable of these release date announcements is the “untitled” Marvel films.  Currently The Avengers 2 is slated for release on May 1, 2015, followed by the first Phase Three film Ant-Man, which opens on November 6, 2015.  Now Disney has confirmed two more Phase Three Marvel films set for May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017. Based on past Marvel Studios films release, it's doubtful if we only get one Marvel film each for 2016 and 2017.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a few months ago that Doctor Strange will part of Phase Three and they'll be devoting their time on the film after Iron Man 3. So it's likely Strange will occupy the 2016 slot. Black Panther and The Inhumans are strong possibilities as well for the 2017 slot since Feige has mentioned both titles in the past. There’s also a standalone Hulk movie to consider, a possible Iron Man 4, and then likely sequels for Captain America, Thor.

New Extended Trailer for Neill Blomkamp's ELYSIUM

The Movie House - Part 3 21aesk8

Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for District 9 director Neill Blomkamp‘s sci-fi film Elysium.  The story takes place in 2159, and two classes of people are divided: the wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, while the rest of the humans inhabit an overpopulated and ruined Earth.  Matt Damon plays a desperate man who must reach Elysium in order to find a cure that will save his life. The film also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Wagner Moura, Diego Luna and William Fichtner.

Running at over three minutes long, this trailer does an excellent job of clearly setting up the film’s premise while also teasing a fantastic-looking sci-fi film in the process.  It’s great to see Damon playing a character with a bit of an edge to him, and Blomkamp’s world-building and visual effects are as exciting as ever.   Elysium opens on August 9th.

First Trailer for MAGIC MAGIC Starring Michael Cera, Juno Temple

The Movie House - Part 3 Magic-Magic-Michael-Cera

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for writer/director Sebastian Silva’s psychological horror film Magic Magic.  The pic stars Juno Temple as a young girl who starts to lose her mind while vacationing with friends in Chile, with Michael Cera taking an incredibly dark turn as an acquaintance of Temple’s character who has a rather peculiar fascination with the girl.  The film also stars Emily Browning, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Agustin Silva.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to mostly positive reviews, and while audiences sparked to the unsettling nature of the film, it’s not exactly a highly mainstream concept.  As such, Sony decided to go direct-to-DVD with the pic.  Nevertheless, this trailer is certainly tantalizing and the pic looks to be worth seeing for Cera’s performance alone.  Silva and Cera also have another collaboration that premiered at Sundance called Crystal Fairy, and that film is slated for a theatrical release later this year.

New International Trailer for Keanu Reeves' MAN OF TAI CHI

The Movie House - Part 3 Man-of-Tai-Chi-0420-Dragonlord

Universal has released a new international trailer for Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi, and it’s loaded with new footage.  The film follows the journey of a young martial artist (Tiger Hu Chen) who’s lured into an underground tournament run by an unsavoury chap (Reeves) dead set on corrupting him.  Joining Chen and Reeves in front of the camera are Simon Yam (Ip Man), Karen Mok (Black Mask), and The Raid: Redemption star Iko Uwais.

Former stunt man Chen first hooked up with Reeves while working on the Matrix series, as did the film’s action choreographer, the legendary Yuen Woo-Ping (also of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame).  While the trailer definitely gives away a lot of the film, doubt anyone is going to see Man of Tai Chi for the story.  Reeves previously saying it’s got “18 fights and roughly 40 minutes of fighting time.”   Currently Man of Tai Chi doesn’t have a release date.

Actor's Salary Issues Complicate Jon Stewart’s ROSEWATER

The Movie House - Part 3 Jr35at

Jon Stewart has gone on hiatus from The Daily Show to make his low-budget drama Rosewater, but the production is already running into problems.  It was previously reported that Gael Garcia Bernal was in talks to lead the picture, which is based on BBC journalist Maziar Bahari’s 118-day captivity in Iran’s most notorious prison after leaving London in June of 2009 to cover the country’s presidential elections.  The title is derived from the fact that Bahari knew only one thing about his brutal interrogator: he smelled of Rosewater.

THR is now reporting that Bernal is demanding a higher salary than what the production is willing to offer.  The $10 million film is trying to save money in order to shoot on location in Jordan starting in mid-July, although most of the movie will take place in interior settings.

Two New Clips from Pixar's Prequel MONSTERS UNIVERSITY

The Movie House - Part 3 Monsters-University-Pig-Mascot-Dragonlord

Disney-Pixar has released two new clips from Pixar’s upcoming prequel Monsters University. The Revenge of the Nerds-esque story finds Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) joining a fraternity of outcasts as all of the Greek houses must compete against each other in the Scare Games, which carry dire consequences for the losers. The clips reveal a look into the undergrads’ adventures in Greek life on campus. It looks like Monsters University could be the movie that gets Pixar back on track to the high quality we’ve come to expect from them.

The film features the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Helen Mirren, John Krasinski, Nathan Fillion, Bonnie Hunt, Dave Foley, Sean Hayes, Joel Murray, Peter Sohn, Aubrey Plaza, Tyler Labine, Bobby Moynihan, Julie Sweeney, Alfred Molina, Beth Behrs, and of course, John Ratzenberger.  Monsters University opens in 3D on June 21st.

Karen Gillan to Play Angela in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

The Movie House - Part 3 Karen-Gillan-Angela-Guardians-Dragonlord

Former Doctor Who star Karen Gillan was reported last month to be joining the stacked ensemble cast of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy as the female villain lead. Speculation has since been rampant about who the Scottish actress might be playing, but rumor has it Gillan's character hasn't even appeared in any Marvel Comics pages, yet.

According to a Glasgow, Scotland newspaper clipping, Gillan is playing Angela, a flame-haired, sword-wielding, bounty hunter in Guardians. The newspaper's source comments, "Karen will be stunning as the chief female villain of the movie. But she will have her work cut out as the role involves a lot of physical workouts and with a costume as revealing, she will have to be in top shape."

Angela originally debuted in Image Comics' Spawn series, created by writer Neil Gaiman and artist Todd McFarlane. Confirmed last March, Gaiman is returning to Marvel Comics and bringing the character Angela with him. While her introduction to the Marvel Universe is slated for Age of Ultron later this year, Angela will appear in some issues of the relaunched Guardians of the Galaxy series. That, of course, makes the possibility of Gillan playing the angelic bounty hunter in the film seem plausible.

Trailer for Woody Allen’s BLUE JASMINE Starring Cate Blanchett

The Movie House - Part 3 2r7y4xg

Sony Pictures Classics has released the first trailer for Woody Allen‘s new film Blue Jasmine.  The pic stars Cate Blanchett as a New York City housewife who travels to San Francisco to be with her sister (Sally Hawkins) after losing all of her money when her husband (Alec Baldwin) turns out to be a white collar criminal.  Jasmine looks to take on a considerably darker tone that Allen’s recent output, but there’s still plenty of humor sprinkled throughout – particularly pertaining to Blanchett’s socialite clashing with her sister’s blue collar friends (played by the likes of Andrew Dice Clay and Bobby Cannavale).

Blanchett looks to be giving an incredibly strong lead performance supported by an unsurprisingly talented ensemble.  The film also stars Louis C.K., Peter Sarsgaard and Michael Stuhlbarg.  Blue Jasmine opens in limited release on July 26th.

A new trailer for writer-director Scott Walker’s new thriller The Frozen Ground is now available.  The picture stars Nicolas Cage as an Alaskan detective out to catch a serial killer (John Cusack) with the help of one of his recently-escaped would-be victims (Vanessa Hudgens).  Yes, Cage plays the detective and Cusack the serial killer … not the other way around.
