The Movie House - Part 5
Part 5
There'll be better films. But the headliner of the year will be Star Wars, it's a cultural milestone in filmmaking. People have been waiting +30 years for this. Some of us our entire lives.

Won't see a better film than Mad Max this year.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
So every Star Wars film is basically a milestone in filmmaking??
It's not even released yet and it is a milestone
Maybe biggest and most anticipated film of the year Freeze, but is that really your definition of film of the year?

He said CULTURAL milestone, which is absolutely true. A Star Wars SEQUEL has been 30 years in the making. It is going to be huge and I am sure the movie will be great too. Good director, good actors, big budget, it will deliver.
Best movie of the year will probably be The Revenant or Hateful Eight. FFS DECEMBER

Film of the year is the film that the year will be remembered by. Everything is going to be centered around Star Wars when looking back 10 years from now.
Every first movie of a Star Wars trilogy has been a cultural milestone in film no matter what you think. It has revolutionized the filmaking proces and fandom culture more than anything in history. And since ROTJ in '83, people have been wanting to see the aftermath of the war. This is the single biggest blockbuster in history, in scale and importance. It will make above 2b$ no doubt and be the movie we'll all remember 2015 by.

Pardon my inaccuracies then.
What I meant to say is that I doubt one of these all-star cast films will be MY film of the year.

I only wish such a cultural milestone franchise would actually be, you know, a good film series, not this shit.

So basically, what you mean is you favourite film this year Would've avoided a lot of confusion. Film of the year sounds like something very huge and should probably field a certain mainstream cultural importance.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
They were all on par for me. But really average. (talking about the orginal trilogy) Did nothing to impress me.
A New Hope was cool as it was the first time, you know, I got introduced to this Star Wars universe and it is smart and I liked some of the characters. But that's as far as it goes

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
So basically you've seen 1/3 of the films we're actually talking about the sequel to. Great basis you're building your argument on. Also calling something that's universally loved by everyone shit, then there seems to something wrong with your judgement. Can't see how the first trilogy can be called shit by any stretch of the imagination.
The prequels are awful overall, they had a great story but the plot was a first draft, and with Lucas surrounded by yes-men, it didn't do the franchise any favours.
KOTOR is GOAT, Battlefront (the old games) are amazing, Rebels is great, Clone wars is also really good. Don't understand how you can call it shit. Amazing lore and mythology.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Star Wars fanboys butthurt because NOT everyone is in love with their little garbage franchise. What else is new?
I don't care it's universally loved, it's just so overrated, it's effing unbelievable. The series has aged horribly in every sense of the word, I'm not going to act like I liked some ancient history franchise just because it was the first of its kind. Hell, there are better films about space wars and aliens today, but they can't be compared to SW because they didn't come first.
