Re: The Movie House - Part 11
I agree with James' sentiments more or less concerning Villeneuve and Nolan. It's no coincidence that I've enjoyed their films most out of any other director since the 2000s. Actually no one else comes close. The scope, grandiosity and control they have over their films are unmatched. Only Spielberg, Fincher and Scorsese has that control as well but they don't have the same scope and grandiosity.
My director to look out for is David Robert Mitchell heading forward. I'm sure everyone here liked It Follows, and i absolutely loved Under the Silver Lake.

He's just a fun filmmaker. Definitely one of my alltime favourites. Has his own style and views on film, and you can see he enjoys the craft of films and filmmaking so much just by watching his films

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
PTA made one of the best films of alltime in There Will Be Blood, even if i feel like the final act was a bit off kilter compared to what came before it. And besides that the only other film of his that I've enjoyed is Magnolia. The Master was okay overall, Seymour Hofmann and Phoenix made the movie interesting more than anything else. Phantom thread wasn't bad either, just not the type of film I would usually like to watch. Punch Drunk Love had a unique style and Sandler was enjoyable, but that's about it. The rest aren't worth mentioning imo.

I am not sure I consider him the goat, but he has produced my favorite move in Memento. A story of a men who can not create new memory in a pursuit to find his wife’s killer. The movie is told in chronological and reverse at the same time in attempt to get as close you can get to a men with his condition. The movie leaves on the edge of your seat, and consistently makes you question what you know. While that is going on the movie is as much about memory and the human conditions of purpose and resolution.
It has everything for me great cinematography, story, acting, and incredibly intelligent.

Yeah found that out after my post. There's definitely a little bit of truth in it. The Extraction ones especially.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
BarrileteCosmico wrote:We started watching Harry Potter on HBO Max yesterday, since I never got past the 3rd movie in my youth. Watching as an adult you realize Harry and his friends are privileged POSs who only break rules and keep getting rewarded for it. The whole ending (where Dumbledore decorates the hall with Slytherin colors because they won the House Cup, and then goes "but wait! There's more!" and tears down the banners to put Gryffindor ones there instead) was worse than calciopoli, it pays to have friends in high places. Can't believe I didn't see the corruption as a child.
Now we watched the 5th movie. Totally forgot about how Umbridge was left by Harry and Hermione to be gang raped by a pack of centaurs. This series got very dark very fast.

This is the best place to put this imo due to exposure, but just so people are aware, this is from the show "Kidding" with Jim Carrey, not a movie.
Also, that's incredible thanks for sharing

Finally watched Inferfal Affairs.
Pretty mediocre movie and improved leaps and bounds by Scorsese.
Seems like an absolute hipster take to rate it higher than The Departed.

What is shocking is to read this heresy.
Nolan's new movie comes out in the summer. Hyped.

Editing and pace is so fast you don't know what's going on most of the time, you just know there's supposed to be two moles
