Re: UEFA Champions League Revamp
Just to be clear, I don't exempt the management being a crucial part of it, I mean what Inter did after the treble is unbeleivable and inconcievable, such a wasted opportunity. Breva has a point and to add to that, they were fine before the ffp werent they? With the same management no less. Things will get better now that Berlesconi is gone seeing that he was the one who screwed us and milan out of each getting their own stadium. But you cannot deny the effect of FFP with the coefficient system that had on the teams. Id also argue Roma are not that successful, or are not more successful than they were before, they're being hindered by FFP and thats a fact, they can't sustain a team, they keep changing personel (mainly in defence) and that affects them.. And being more successful than inter or milan now isnt saying much as both clubs were poorly managed
About the "historical merit" thing, yeah i dont think that will ever pass, its such an unfair rule and besides how will that ever work anyways? But the 4 spots for the top 4 leagues is almost guaranteed now.. @jibers i read that interview, very good read for anyone who wants to know about this new format
@rwo yes good scouting and management of the team should always be comended but don't you think having 4 spots helps them sustain this? Having 3 spots for grabs is the real problem here, there's little margin for error, you dont get that 3rd spor you're screwed and need to sell your better players so you dont get banged by the ffp... All this doesnt matter anyways, italy are in this situation due to their carelessnes and inability to manage their teams

Will wait to see it all official, the full changes. If it gets closed-league aspects too much, I'll say RIP to the CL and stop watching. Elitist football isn't for me.

Awful decision. Takes literally all of the incentive away from clubs like mine that continue to underachieve.

I suppose it gets CL more money to have more known clubs in there.

Aren't Italy and England basically at the same coefficient point total?
I like the change to be honest

Just checked - both England and Italy are pretty safe at 3 and 4 atm: http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2017.html
I'm surprised - Portugal is at 7 and Russia at 6 o_O

for the good of the tournament.rincon wrote:So after all of Adit's ramblings England actually lost a team from european competition. West Ham couldn't get past Astra...
While Serie Z's series flops given a red carpet to CL . What is the point of giving scrubs who couldn't even qualify properly a automatic spot in groups? Makes absolutely no sense other than weakening the tournament.

Given that Serie A and the burro league have about the same coefficient points, what about the burro league flops?
(Since the site automatically changes the common disparaging name for the BPL automatically to BPL, but allows posters like this guy to post his offensive crap, burro league seems an appropriate substitute.)

Re: UEFA Champions League Revamp
So historical merti doesn't get you into the competition, but it improves your club coefficient for the seeding if you do qualify. So I guess when Milan finally qualify they won't be in pot 4.

Re: UEFA Champions League Revamp
Given that EL winners usually tend to be from within the top 4 leagues, we'll actually have potentially 17 out of the 32 slots allocated for the top 4 leagues.

Re: UEFA Champions League Revamp
There is no historical merit when it comes to league precedent of CL places, 'historical coefficient' will be factored into club coefficient, mean when we eventually make our way back to CL, we won't be thrown into pot 4

Guess we'll have no more of Astana's , Hapoel Beer-Sheva's, Rostov's , Ludogorets and so on. Or at least their entries into the comp. is an uphill task now.

Wasn't it always an uphill task considering up to 3 or 4 rounds of qualifying before getting into the group stage?
