Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
It's funny though, we had the best attack last year in the league yet it was our defense which cost us the tittle all season, to even think we should just allow a massive hole in our defense and allow teams to take advantage and not address it is ridiculous.
Unless were poor again i see no reason we can't fill both positions and spend what we need.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
^ Flanagan was absolutely boss at fullback last season. He will be back. Rodgers today said Manquillo is staying too.
At worse case of emergency we'll have Can/Ibe who can fill in too. We don't have unlimited resources, blowing out 10-15M on a fullback is absolute idiocy.
Man U are getting forth with Paddy McNair and Antonio Valencia at fullback all season. Arsenal are second with a player playing fullback that didn't even have any professional matches up until this season.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I would wager that a starting CM is even more important than a RB as well.
1. Starting quality Goalscorer (any forward position ST/CF/SS/RW/LW I don't care)
2. Starting quality CM so Joe Schmoe doesn't ever play again.
3. etc

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I'd be tempted to play Coutinho as CM in a three man midfield, he's so good at bringing the ball up, that really helps our overall play.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
You people keep saying "new CF" thinking we're going to get someone world class.
No player is going to join a club that has ambitions to finish in the top 4.
The very best want to win / want to actually develop under a manager that's known for being a winner. No proven players wants to join a project. Not when you lose Suarez, Gerrard, and potentially Sterling in a year. Screams out no ambition.
Majority of the players we've signed in the last 5 years has been absolutely horrendous.
And those transfers will continue being horrendous with Rodgers in charge.
Every single team that has finished above us are going to improve. I said the same thing last summer. And they all did. And what did we do...? They'll continue to progress. City's team needs a whole new rebuild and will only get better. Man Utd are going to having a budget over 100m+ will gel a bit better with LVG. Chelsea under Mourinho will always title challenge. And Arsenal will continue to improve with the Emirates pretty much paid off.
We'll do the same shit in the summer. Ings will join. Origi will come back. We'll probably rely on Sturridge for another couple of months even with his injury woes that'll probably make him regress. (Seriously. 8 injuries on the same leg.) And Liverpool fans will just make more excuses making Rodgers look like he's the good guy/the victim. But he's holding us back.
At the end of the day, you need a champion manager to make a champion team.
Chelsea's transfers can be used as evidence for this. Look at their signings before and after Mourinho. They used to flirt as a "top 4" side before he joined (didn't challenge for 3-4 years before he got there, joined Chelsea and installed the winning mentality to them straight away) and now have turned into the best team in England.
EDIT: And no I'm not blaming Rodgers for all the transfers over the last 5 years before you all PMS and try to get a jab in. I'm saying he hasn't really improved Liverpool in the market.

We'll sign someone if not a WC signing. Rodgers is staying so you might as well stop being so vocal because we can't do nothing about it regardless of our feelings.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
meh there are always Suarez of this worlds who are trapped somewhere in some part of football, we have to find and free them. We can only hope for the best.
Now I know almost know that Rodgers is going nowhere, I can only hope that he improves himself and Liverpool both in the coming season.
Also, Wisdom can surely help us filling in the RB spot at least till January. We need to give more chances to academy players before we sign young scrubs from other teams. I would say, a striker and when there are some funds left, get a CM otherwise promote the likes of Williams, use Coutinho in the position of advanced CM and then you have the likes of Texeira. I would really say, use all the f fortune on a striker, but a proven one

El Cujo finally showing us the light
Willian, Costa, Depay, Knoplayanka...we missed all on those players just because of Rodgers

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I think like every issues in GL, the opinions are pretty polarized. While Red Alert blames Rodgers for poor transfers, El Cujo refuses to blame Rodgers for any wrongdoings in transfer market. Things as dire as it's simple this (coming) season. Either Rodgers gets things right or he gets the boot.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I would love to see an example of an elite or great player choosing a lower tier team because of the manager.
Also I don't absolve Rodgers of responsibility, but he is not the one negotiating. He can only identify targets along with a board. Give him full power and let him sink or swim at this point.

The closest player we get to "world class" this summer is James Milner. Who's a solid PL contributor but not exactly a marquee signing.
Rodgers staying or not doesn't change my opinion on him. Backing him is holding the whole club back.
I'm still wondering who you're expecting for "new CF". lol

And what's the point of finding / freeing the "Suarez" if we can't keep ahold of them? We've become a feeder club / selling club. lmao
El Cujo wrote:If only Rafa or Klopp had been here. Surely Alexis would have chosen us over Arsenal then.
They sure wouldn't have waited 2 months for finding a replacement in the final third and then have to decide between Eto'o or Balotelli on deadline day because they were too arrogant / stubborn to accept the fact that Sanchez didn't want to join Liverpool because of Rodgers' inadequacies. lmao
Anyway. You live in your dream world where Liverpool is managed by the greatest manager of all who's just been unlucky.
