Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - Pt.2
Change the sub-title, imo
So, City have opened the bidding on Sterling
Like I said in GS, I'd take a Dzeko + cash deal.

Seems like our third signing of the summer will be another free-signing. Not exactly elated to have an second-choice keeper for Championship, but if he can put on FA Cup like performances for 10 odd games, he will be another decent signing.

He is probably better than Jones, and free, so I'm not too worried about it. Mignolet will get the majority of the starts, and if we really need someone the winter will be a time that we can still address it.

Good news: Benteke rumors aren't circulation much.
Bad news: Kovacic rumors aren't circulating much.
Would this make it your dream summer:
Milner + Ings + Bogdan + Kovacic + Lacatteze???

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - Pt.2
Did we learn anything from the last 3 summers under Rodgers?
The short answer is no. We are doing the same exact thing and stockpiling bodies, most of whom we'll struggle to get rid of in a few months.
The even shorter answer is they can all go and *bleep* themselves.
Killing any love I had for football at the moment.

Some slightly better news for you guys:
Sevilla have purchased Aspas outright... and have now sold him to Celta Vigo.
So there you go; some deadweight off the list.

RED wrote:sepi, james, if it was up to you, who would you want Liverpool to get this window?
We need to improve our starting line up.
My logic which I've been preaching for years in GL is this: DON'T BUY AVERAGE PLAYERS FOR SQUAD DEPTH. BUY PLAYERS BETTER THAN OUR STARTERS, THUS MOVING THE CURRENT STARTERS TO THE BENCH AND MAKING THEM SQUAD DEPTH WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY IMPROVING THE FIRST TEAM. Both first team and the squad get improved this way.
What we are doing currently is literally stockpiling bodies. Deadwood players whom WE NEVER USE anyways. Take Aspas and Moses and Alberto and Borini and Lambert and Manquillo for example. They were brought in as squad depth but when players were injured the manager opted to play others out of position rather than trusting these scrubs.
GK: Improvement on Mignolet, At the very least someone to challenge him. I would personally love Leno from Bayer and I would pay whatever Bayer want for him, but if he doesn't want to leave a CL club, honestly half the GKs in Bundesliga mid table clubs are better or at least as good as Mignolet. Hell Maty Ryan would be better than effing Bogan, who from the looks of it barely started for Bolton.
Fullback: It doesn't matter to me if it's RB or LB. I think we need a fullback. I would love to be in fighting for the likes of Darmian or Rodriguez, of course neither would come as better teams want them but if we overpay for actual quality I won't be against it. I'm against overpaying for scrubs. We sure as hell aren't afraid to overpay Southamton for players. Would love DeSciglio or Alex Sandro. I think both are better than all the fullbacks we have at the club.
CM: Major quality needed here. We are linked with Kovacic. I love the kid. So I'm totally for this. For once we are making the right decision here. Need to move the likes of Allen so far down the pecking order that they never play for us again.
DM: I love Lucas. He embodies what Liverpool is about. But I would love an improvement over him. He's still very good but imagine getting someone better. Milan, who have less money than us and finished in mid table in Serie A, are in for Kondogbia and have a good chance of signing him, WHY ARE WE NOT IN FOR HIM?
FW: Sterling is as good as gone. The club owes us a good replacement for him. We'll get plenty of money for him. I'd spend it all on the replacement. I'd love anybody good. Firmino, Son, Jese, Griezmann, Reus. Very unrealistic that Griezmann or Reus would ever come but we would have a decent shot at Son, Firmino or Jese if we tempt them them with big wages and absolute stardom. I'm sure like Morata, Jese would leave Madrid for more game time.
ST: Ings Seriously? Benteke? They still owe us a decent Suarez replacement. Higuain is available. He's better than Sturridge even. Lacazette is there, while unrealistic, Aulas is an idiot with a big mouth that can be tempted with a laot of money. The sort of money that Benteke is being rumored for. Vietto is my person favorite. Hell we could tempt Inter for Icardi with the Benteke sort of fee. Maybe tempt Valencia with a high bid for Paco. Above all I hope it's a quality mobile forward. Not another lump like Benteke to basically do *bleep* all a la Lambert, Carroll, and Balotelli.
Honestly man I just want quality players. I don't give a shit if it's the players I mentioned or not.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - Pt.2
The depth is there now, only quality additions next. I would rather sign just one more player in the window if he was top quality, instead of five 'pretty decent' ones.
Hopefully we have now made the easy signings and will next concentrate on the real difference makers.

Man City could come in with a player-plus-cash deal for Sterling. Dzeko is one player who could interest Rodgers. [Paul Joyce]

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - Pt.2
That would be a good deal for us, still depending upon how much cash we get and a big question mark over Dzeko would like to come to us. He is already 29 and imo he would like to move to a more established club in other leagues. It is also possible, Wolfsburg make a deal with them for KdB=Dzeko+cash.

Dzeko + Kovacic. I would be happy with this summer

Rumours of a Liverpool FC bid for Mateo Kovacic just won't go away - with reports in Italy indicating the Reds are set to return with an improved bid for the midfielder this week.
The Reds have long been linked with a move for the Croatian playmaker, and Gazetta Dello Sport reckon Liverpool and Inter are now getting nearer in their valuation for the player.
It is reported that Inter want 25m euros for the 21-year-old, and reports claim Brendan Rodgers is "in love" with the player and sees him as a perfect replacement for Steven Gerrard.

Kovacic and Jovetic and I'll be happy with the summer. I would take JoJo over Dzeko any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015 - Pt.2
Jovetic is better than Dzeko but is as injury prone as Sturridge; potentially worse.
Dzeko would be a good signing but would genuinely surprised if he'd leave to join us where he can go to a club with CL.
Kova would be a good signing for Klopp.

Do you suppose if we get GBP 32mil (net) for Sterling and place a E 45mil (GBP 32mil) bid for Lacatteze, OL will refuse?
