Summer Transfer Window 2015
http://www.goallegacy.net/t36833p450-winter-is-coming
Goalkeeper: Mignolet has redeemed himself in the last few games and if keeps this form (and development) he will be retained. Jones will leave and I have no idea about Ward. However, if Rodgers (and the ‘committee’) has learned the lesson; there will be a dependable goalkeeper coming in during the summer window. He can be a veteran who will provide solid cover & competition for couple of seasons, or an upcoming one who can be starting quality in couple of seasons.
Wingbacks: Johnson will leave. Flanagan & Moreno will be retained. Enrique will enter his last year of contract and should be sold. Not sure about Manquillo. Should sign a starting quality RWB.
Center-backs: Toure will leave. So will, in my opinion, Coates & Wisdom. Don’t expect any new signings.
Midfielders: Gerrard will leave. All the rest will be retained. If Emre is considered as cover for Henderson, then a quality player should be brought in for the defensive midfield position. If Emre is used in that position, then a cover for Henderson.
Attackers: Lambert will be retained. Borini will be sold. Not sure about Balotelli. Not sure if Rodgers (and the ‘committee’) will consider a combination of Raheem, Ibe & Origi as viable cover for Sturridge.
Players bound to leave (free or otherwise): Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Toure, Coates, Gerrard & Borini. Probable departures may include Mignolet, Manquillo, Lovern, Lucas, Allen & Balotelli.
Probable Squad (at the end of August)
Goalkeepers: Mignolet, NEW GK
Center-backs: Skrtel, Sakho, Lovern, Ilori
Wingbacks: Moreno, Manquillo, Flanagan, NEW WB
Midfielders: Lucas, Emre, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Lallana, NEW MF (DM/B2B)
Attackers: Sturridge, Raheem, Ibe, Markovic, Balotelli, Origi, Lambert

Watch Utd vs. Burnley last night.
Fantastic performance from Ings who was comfortably MOTM and gave their defense a horrid time.
First time I've carefully watched him. I'd describe him as a Borini with better finishing and much better first touch and vision. For free, it'd be a no-brainer of an upgrade.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Ings is a good little player and only 22. Like I said before, identifying a player who could have a huge break out (ala Lacazette) before they do it and snapping them up before it can save a ton of money and prevent other teams from getting in on it. Ings looks like one of those players that put in the right situation could have a big breakout. Some of the runs he made against United were class, his passing too is underrated. He works very hard and has enough natural talent to make use of that hard work. I would take him here for sure.

Wisdom might end up staying, He's more than proving himself in the PL.

Pulis has benched him, which I don't understand
Whenever I've seen Wisdom this season, he's done a decent job at RB. Although it has to be said he's not an attacking full-back, just shows that his really a CB. Could work if we keep playing with three CBs, but I think it's too big a task for him to get playing time at Liverpool in a two-CB system.
About Ings, we need a starting quality striker and I don't believe Ings is that for Liverpool. We've got enough cover options.
Anyway, the summer window shouldn't be that difficult, even. Doesn't mean it won't be. But we have starting quality players in most positions:
GK ???
CB - Skrtel - Sakho
Ibe - Henderson - Can - Moreno ???
Sterling - Coutinho
ST
CB - Skrtel - Sakho
Ibe - Henderson - Can - Moreno ???
Sterling - Coutinho
ST
I left out Sturridge because he'll be injured anyway, we need a starting quality striker. We need a goalkeeper, someone who can challenge Mignolet for the starting spot, like Ospina & Sczcesny at Arsenal. If none of our on-loan CBs get a chance, we need a CB, whether or not we play with two or three CBs. And I'm on the fence whether Moreno is good enough a LWB. He has had his great moments this season, but he's had some bad ones as well and especially lately has been having some very forgettable games.
But I think it's clear what we need. Starting quality GK, CB, CM and ST.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I feel Rodgers will depend on Raheem, Ibe & Origi as alternative for Sturridge. On the other hand, he will opt for a WB given Johnson & Enrique will leave, Flanagan has been injured the whole season and Manquillo isn't deemed more than a squad player. But I think it's clear what we need. Starting quality GK, CB, CM and ST.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
We need 1 or 2 big signings, anything other than attempts to get these shows the direction of the club.
Fair enough if no one wants to come, but we have to attempt and make a serious attempt at that.

He's hardly impressed at Stoke and shown nothing at Milan , Roma and Ajax... (giving him the benefit of the doubt and not saying Barcelona) to suggest his going to reach a world class status.
Decent squad player type. But yeah, not good enough for Liverpool.

I wouldn't go there, if for nothing else than the fact that Stoke just got him for 2m and we'd probably have to pay 20m. I also doubt he'd be what we need.

While I agree that we need matured/established players in our ranks to improve our odds for CL qualification and winning the league, I simply can't see the management changing their philosophy.mr-r34 wrote:We need 1 or 2 big signings, anything other than attempts to get these shows the direction of the club.

If we continue with this philosophy we'll just be arsenal, that's showing no ambition. Might as well kick FSG out if all they are trying to do is find cheap young gems.

Huh? He's been fantastic this year for Stoke when healthy. Though I don't think we need to go for him and he wasn't really impressive up to that point. Is the potential still there? Absolutely, but he's the type of player that disappears when his confidence is low. If he can find the right mentality he can be a very, very good player though.
As far as this summer is concerned on a more realistic note all I would be very happy with just this: a keeper to push or even take over for Mignolet and a world class, experienced midfielder to replace Gerrard. An extra CB like Schar would be nice too, but aside from those three things we're pretty much set already with all the players we have at various positions for the formations we like to use.
Some names come to mind like for the GK (Perin, Horn, Leno, Sommer, etc.), CM (Bender, Pjanic, Pogba, Koke etc.) and CB (Schar, Veltman, Vlaar, etc.)

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Jones, Johnson, Toure and Gerrard will be leaving. In addition, I think most these may leave too:
Luis Alberto: Don’t think there’s a option/obligation to buy clause
Andre Wisdom: Having a full season in Premier League
Brad Smith: Don’t fancy a 20-year old playing in third division
João Carlos Teixeira: Playing regularly but don’t know how well
Tiago Ilori: Not having enough games even at Bordeaux
Sebastian Coates: I’m sure he will be sold
Javier Manquillo
Jose Enrique
Joe Allen
Fabio Borini
Mario Balotelli
Wouldn't mind keeping Wisdom, specially if we continue with 3421.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Ilori has started the last 2 matches for Bordeaux. Injuries has been the only thing really that held him back. Could have played a lot more games.
He's only played 9 games all season for them though. Hopefully until the end of the season he avoids injuries as he's currently established himself as a starter there.

This is beside the point, but Arsenal have actually showed a lot of ambition in recent years, signing Özil and Sanchez. But I agree that we need a couple of big caliber signings now.

That's right even arsenal Stopped that shit, so that should be enough for our owners to look at other options.

BR apparently flew off to Rome immediately after the Spurs game. Rumors flying around the meeting was for Pjanic (rumors though)

Pjanic, I am already dreaming about our cool midfield with Henderson-Pjanic together
Btw, that rumoured fee of 37m pounds seems little more than his value...I think 30m pounds is fine for him, which is actually more than 40m €. So paying 7m Pounds means we will pay almost 10m € extra. Now a days I dont get bothered by fees we pay because we have to take risk otherwise we will never get good players but it is interesting to discuss the hypothetical case.

I don't mind overspending a little bit for a top end talent.
I trust Rodgers though. He knows his guys he wants, and I think he has the ability to work with whoever he brings in. If Pjanic is the main guy he wants I hope we get him.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I also think we may need to pay some premium in certain cases. Those are averaged by deals like Emre, Coutinho, Sturridge (not many, mind it).I don't mind overspending a little bit for a top end talent.
However, question is if it's really 'a little bit' or way over the top.
Another thing. I don't watch Italian League much. What sort of player is he!!! Coutinho & Henderson will keep the AM & B2B slots and he (Pjanic) doesn't seem to be the sort playing the deepest role.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Pjanic is a bit like Eriksen, based on what I've seen of him (mostly the World Cup and Roma in the CL). Only that he usually plays a bit deeper down than Eriksen. I could definitely see him in a three-man midfield, not sure about this two-man thing.
