Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
I guess that it is just one more bad decision by the club this year. I guess that I should be surprised.

Some great games from him obviously liverpool a few times, Porto 5-0 when he was amazing too.
Our midfield against Spurs last season at Emirates: Nasri Fabregas Song Denilson Arshavin; < 4/5 gone. So many changes every year.
The most craziest Arshavin moment was when AW left him out of team v Chelsea in 09 fa cup semi-final, when he was on fire. Bizarre.
The last part, especially, will continue to baffle me till my dying days. Moreover, I'm glad he's now left.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
What?!! When the heck did this happen?!?!
We will miss him. And at a time when the faith among the fans is fast fading, I see this as another extremely stupid decision by the club management. What are they trying to do? Ensure we finish out of Europa League?
Its just the timings though. We could have waited until the summer.
Any official statements from club/player yet??

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
Yeah, I read it somewhere that it was planned all along and they just waited till the transfer window was over so the fans won't be calling for a replacement. If true, the board are really happy with mediocrity.
I still remember how I was excited about seeing Arshavin play when he came. He was probably the most anticipated player we ever got. I feel sorry for him though for how his form dropped from being a fan favourite to being booed. Good Bye Little Russian.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
As a Liverpool fan and an eye on the race for fourth, I'm glad Arshavin is gone without a replacement. He might not have been lighting it up this season, but still a player who can give decisive passes and score goals on his day. Arsenal aren't any stronger with Andrey gone.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
Poor management letting him leave at this time without a replacement, i know he has been awful and lazy but He can still come off the bench and create something. He could have been world class but the guy just doesn't put the effort in , most of the time his game is sloppy and he is knackered by half time

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
Stop looking at his stats, they don't mean anything when he doesn't work hard enough for the team or himself. Last season, he had some great stats, was constantly assisting his team mates, but the problem was the performances he put in and this season, he has been much worse, dire - to be honest. The problem with him going now is that Arsenal are, essentially, left with three wingers in Arshavin, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho, so to loan him out now is a bit of an absurd decision.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
his stats overshadowed his pathetic performances. the biggest one of all was the 4-4 against liverpool. lol he was terrible in that game probably one of the worst players on the pitch however he scored four goals so it was alllllllllllllll RIGHT.

So it is good to have other players that get 2 or 3 times as many minutes to run all over the field not adding any goals or assists to the team. Just as long as they are willing to chase the ball.

Of course it's alright when you score 4 goals
I would've love Chamakh if he scored sometimes 4 goals in derbys, even if he plays like shit. Just sayin'
He was effective every single season bar this one, he was great or us and helped us so much at times despite playing out of position. Just that his decline was too much this year.
Just look at Ramsey, if you let him he'll chase the ball for two days, but still wont do nothing
That's why effectiveness is important.

Well its good he wants to come back, but I hope he doesn't. He doesn't fit into our team and its time to move on. If we change our formation and play with a player up in the hole, then I would, but if he's going to come back and play on the wing, then no point.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
Well if he plays well for Zenit and then at the Euros then we'll want him to stay, so maybe this could be a good exercise to see if he still has what it takes if given game time in the right position?
I'm pretty sure every Arsenal fan on the planet would admit that he single-handily revived our season that year . Some people can hate his apparent 'lack of effort' all they want, but he held the cannon on his tiny shoulders for long enough that he deserves no such disrespect as he leaves the club.REWB wrote:his stats overshadowed his pathetic performances. the biggest one of all was the 4-4 against liverpool. lol he was terrible in that game probably one of the worst players on the pitch however he scored four goals so it was alllllllllllllll RIGHT.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
What I hope comes out of this is that Arshavin wins silverware and desire with Zenit to come back to Arsenal with spirit and more importantly, that he plays well in a central role and Wenger sees it and plays him in that role otherwise he should stay in Zenit as what we do by putting him on the wings is an absolute travesty as he's one of the most purely talented players in the world being played out of position and being blamed for it.

He is going home, he will be playing in his natural position for Zenit the team that should win silverware in their league. They will qualify and he will be able to play CL football next year.
Yea like he will want to come back and play out of position for a team that probably will not be in CL football next year and probably will not show the ambition necessary to challenge for silverware next year.

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
Was just about to say what MJ said....This could actually be a good thing. Imagine if he goes to Zenit, plays well in the middle and comes back to us. AW would re-think playing him out wide and actually give him a chance in the middle. He could prove to be somewhat influential next season...

Re: The Good Bye Arshavin Thread
I agree that he's played some good games for us. It's a little sad to see him go.
But it's time. And I don't think we'll be needing him to come back.
