Should Arsenal Cash in on Andrey Arshavin?
Andrey Arshavin
I love him but this question is unavoidable.
With Euro 2012 approaching, Zenit being his preferred choice, and the main club showing interest in him, is it time to let him go?
Beneficial to all parties
It's actually surprising that this transfer is beneficiary to all parties since Arshavin gets promised playing time at Zenit instead of his subdued role here. He still has the talent to shine here as evidenced by his play against Leeds but we can't afford to award playing time to a sporadic star.
Pros
- He gets playing time for Euro 2012
- Zenit get a marquee player
- Arsenal get a more than fair price
- Arsenal free up a spot for another player to come in
Cons
- Arsenal severely depleted on the wing until AFCON comes to a close (Walcott, AOC, Miyaichi, Park?)
- Arsenal lose experienced player
- Arsenal can only sell if another winger is lined up to buy

Only if Wenger brings a quality player and improves that area.
Otherwise, no need to sell him.

He may actually want to move because of the Euro 2012 and this is probably the best price we'll get for him. But yes, unless we bring in a quality winger, we actually can't sell him.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
in the summer transfer window, we cant lose Rosa and Shava this window
reasons:1-Depth of the squad
2- cant see us singing replacement

Re: Andrey Arshavin
He's pretty a certified starter for Russia anyway, and won't lack match sharpness since Wenger loves to give him sub appearances and we'll inevitably have injuries.
Unless someone comes in this window, we can't sell him. It has to be in the summer.

THe guy frustrates me soooooooooooooo much. To me, he is our second best player behind RVP (talent wise and all). He just doesn't give a damn though. If he really improved his fitness a little, and really put in alot of hard work attacking and defensively, he would be instrumental to us this season. Only thing is, it's all up to him, and he doesn't really give a damn.

He is a little slower now, but I think he can play as a CAM still, because of his vision.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
I just want Arshavin to try. Is that too much to ask the Russian captain on £80k a week?
TBF to Arshavin, he was good against Leeds IMO. Despite several missed chances, his general play was better - but this is against a championship side.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
doesnt fit our formation. we have to stop tolerating him before we wont be able to sell him at all.
surprised a lot of you are even sticking up for keeping him. 75% of the time he comes on now it's like we're playing with 10 men.

Love the little Russian, he packed some impressive numbers last year, we can't just abandon him because of his bad form now

Re: Andrey Arshavin
Unfortunately, we do not replace people with quality. We try and replace them with a belief of youth and potential. If we do sell him we would at least be able to try and sell everyone on the fact that we are not winning because we are a young team again.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
Arshivan had so many chances to score and he messed them all up and 34 year Henry comes back from Vacation and scores a insane goal.
Arshivan will always be a my hero for that goal vs Barcelona, but I think its better for both side if he switched to a new team.

His work ethic was stellar that day and he was my runner up MOtM. If he were given more playing time and played with that attitude then he could easily scrap up 10+ goals and assists for the rest of the year.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
Yeah, his latest performance against Leeds was much better. Not only did he work harder, but he actually looked like he had his pace back. It's been a while since I've seen dribble that fast.
The end product was lacking, but that's probably a confidence thing. If he puts in more performances like the one against Leeds, the goals and assists will come.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
lmao Ali.
We gotta also keep in mind that this was against a championship team. Arshavin we'll probably start against Swansea so we'll see what mood he's in and how he plays, and then we'll be able to judge a bit better. Because really, he hasn't lost much of his skill. I was surprised to see him make speedy bursts down the side and consistently threaten goal, and it's demoralizing to put in that much effort and not reap what you sow. So it's a kind of a laziness issue. I reaaaaaaaaaaally hopes he plays the same way on Sunday.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
I have seen enough of Arshavin to convince me that he's lost his way. Just because he's our most expensive signing, he seem to be able to get away with crap any other player couldn't if their cost was half the price.
He pisses me off soooo much, it's unreal!!!!
He's just useless at best. I'd cash in on the guy and bring in someone a few years younger and with more hunger (see what I did there lol).

Re: Andrey Arshavin
It's likely that he'll get a run in the side over the next few months. I think we should give him the chance to play games consistently again, then if he fails, sell him in the summer. It's not like we'll get a massive amount of money if we sell him anyway, and in the short run, we really can't afford to lose a left winger.
I really hope he recovers his form though, because he's one of my favourite players.

Re: Andrey Arshavin
Gervinho gets the ball down and then gives it away without a shot. Arshavin got a hot off. I would give him a run of games and see what he can do. I think we will see that his numbers will end up being really close to gervhinos
