When Should Wenger's Reign End?
Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
Unless a spout of divine intervention happens, I see next season as his last. Unless we finish outbid the top 4 which I highly doubt we will, I just don't see where or what Wenger and Gazidis are trying to achieve.
Reluctant to spend money, reluctant to pay the right players what they deserve. Overpay poor players. Yet Wenger and Gazidis are two of the highest paid in their respective positions. Ridiculous!

Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
I'm confident we will Finish Top4
this is a same team that even some neutrals said there is no chance to finish outside top4 this season
now a poor form
and suddenly many have doubts
Wenger said you can have 1 period like this
if 2 like last season then there might be trouble which we still survived
as for Domestic cup
i can just hope
but dont expect much
hopefully An Arshavin-esque signing is on the way lift everyone and make instant impact

Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
Thing is, even if we finish 15th Wenger is safe.
The twats on the board are getting far too rich off Wenger's management to change it.
Still, Wenger deserves chances to get it right.
My only worry is that some people become very stubborn once they hit old age. Wenger is 63 now.
If nature has taken its course (if he has become a stubborn old fart) and he refuses to drop players out of form because he feels they are world class...it would be time for him to go with a hero's send off, executive box for life and a part time scouting role if he wanted it.

Very true. We've just gone through one of the hardest patches we'll have this year. Liverpool, Man City, Man United away and Chelsea at home. The next portion of our calendar needs to boost our form. We're still 6th so it's not like we've been left in the dust by the other top teams.
I know yesterday was very discouraging but did we really expect to win it? It's Old Trafford with Mike Dean, let's be realistic and focus on the games we can win which are all ahead of us. The season is still very young as are the Arsenal careers of Giroud, Cazorla and Podolski.
Also, Jack being back affected us, the players still have to adjust to a new very influential midfielder.

Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
Nobody would be too disappointed with the result if the performance had been encouraging, since that would have been an improvement on recent games.
But the performance was so appalling it just doesn't fill you with any confidence in this team's ability to win games and achieve its aims this season.
It's all well and good pointing to Liverpool, City, United and Chelsea as tough games, but we've also played Stoke, Sunderland, QPR and Norwich and have only picked up five points from a possible 12 from those games.

True but either way we're still only 10 games into the year with those games behind us, even if we bottled it against teams we needed to beat. We still have less challenging (on paper) games ahead to get some form going.

Last season
Norwich(H)
Wigan(H)
QPR(Away)
Blackburn(Away)
we got 1 point out of that 4 matches!
the league might be more challenging this season
Chelsea in particular is different team
but we ourselves atleast potentially are better as well
thats assuming Santi,Poldi,Jack and Diaby will get better/fitter as the season goes on
anyway next fixtures vs Fulham, Spuds and Everton are must Win
Lets get behind the team

Sina I love you and MJs faith in Arsenal. I really don't look forwards games anymore, its just depressing. Whats worse is that teams like Fulham, Everton always give us trouble.

I am not looking forward to this at all especially with those games being in Novemeber which has always been a shit months for us. We go to Shalke on Tuesday which will be hell then after Fulham we got Spuds and Everton, the team is low on confidence, playing shit, running out of ideas. This could get worse

Well I don't see Wenger going anytime soon, and I know for sure he WON'T get sacked. And I don't know whether that's fortunate or unfortunate.
Like some of ya'll said. Maybe at the end of his current contract.

No,but seriously, I'll give him another season to work his magic. Don't think there's another manager who could work on such a small budget and still guarantee TOP 4 every season.
It's the board's responsibility to find Wenger's adequate replacement, who while believes in "The Arsenal Way", brings something else on the table and refreshes this sometimes lethargic club and hopefully brings it back to it's former glory.

To be fair, Arsene spent money the past 2 seasons - whether he spent it right, that's another question.

Is not just about spending, we cant buy 2 players and sell 3. most teams take a step forward but we take 2 back lol.
Wengers ego is the killer, he thinks he can turn any player in to Henry. No player can ever become the next Henry.
He loves certain players too much, and will not drop them for the world. He would rather see Arsenal lose than drop a player imo.
Wenger has to stop being a father and become a real Boss liker Fergi.

That's the truth of it. The signings aren't the problem, it's the sales.

Wenger has to put his foot down and any player who is under contract will not leave.
Tired of seeing 3/4 players and replaces with 1/2 players. We were always one player away from winning EPL and CL but never got that player.

I want Pep Guardiola to take over in the summer, right after the season ends.
Wenger should stay at Arsenal but not as Manager.

Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
I'm not sold on Pep being the guy who can take us back to the top. He doesn't have the greatest record for buying good players and he never really has had to deal with players wanting to leave his club like Arsene has in recent times, so we have no idea how Guardiola would handle keeping our best players together. He had a phenomenal record with a mostly-preassembled squad of superstars, but we're a completely different managerial proposition.

Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
the only way that we are going to be able to keep our best players is to actually show that 4th place is not good enough that we want to actually win silverware. Then pay the star players a star player wage.

Re: The Definitive Wenger POLL
Just found this article and yes it kind of pissed me off.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fa-cup-swansea-vs-arsenal-1519713
Arsene Wenger admits he is responsible for Arsenal’s much-maligned ‘socialist’ wage structure.
I wonder what Arsene would think of his pay being changed to a more socialist model and closing the gap between his pay and some of the lower paid managers. Or maybe he can change home ticket prices to a more socialist scale. Insuring that tickets at the Emirates are something closer to those at Wigan or Man chitty.
If this article is actually quotes from him, at least we now know why he is not able to bring in WC players, or even keep our best players and why he can not get rid of the dead wood.
