Re: The Movie House
Is 'the avengers' any different from a typical Michael Bay film except that it feature the superheroes whom you worshiped as a child(or still does)?

Way better than anything Bay can ever come up with...because, Avengers actually has a plot, great character development and is witty, whereas Bay just relies on big explosions and special effects.

Re: The Movie House
Watched chronicle just before, and i must say that I am speechless, such an amazing film, probably the best superhero film i have seen since TDK.
Better as a film than The Avengers, because there is so much emotion in every scene, and it puts a more psychological and realistic POV in teenagers getting superpowers
8,5/10 IMO
My opinion could be a little biased, because I really like the whole documentary way of making films, even though it is getting a bit mainstream. And also friday night lights is one of my favourite TV-shows, and I loved Michael Jordan's character in it

I thought it had way too much action. I would have welcome some character development instead for that. That is really my only complaint.
Oh, and Loki the Oezil lookalike was too one dimensional for my liking.

OH MY GOD. SO GOOD.
Hand down, best superhero movie I have seen in a long while. Maybe even the best.
Pure entertainment. See it.
I watched this today, great movie. Hulk stole the show.
My 2 favorite scenes are with the hulk
I know exactly which ones you're talking about.
- Spoiler:
The bit when he punches Thor, right after they beat up those enemies.
and..
- Spoiler:
The bit when he pounds Loki onto the ground like a rag doll. lol
lol exactly! so funny

I think the point of this movie was to make it kind of all out action, since there has been a character development in each of the heroes movies

Re: The Movie House
I understand that, but if it would have had 1/4 less action it still would have been an all out action movie. By the end of the movie I couldn't help that something was missing - and that was character development. Yes, the characterization is superb, props to Whedon for making them seem 3 dimensional. But none of the characters changed in any meaningful between the beginning and the end.
I don't want to make it seem like I didn't like, I loved it. It just wasn't complete in my opinion.

Re: The Movie House
In my opinion - AVENGERS = overhyped
It's a good movie, don't get me wrong, but it's nowhere, and I mean NOWHERE near 8.8 out of 10 (as it's official imdb rating is).
My rating would be a 7.7 out of 10, and I think that's a pretty good rating for an action-hero movie.

- Spoiler:
- It has some really funny scenes, and yeah - the one where Hulk punches Thor is golden But on the serious note - the characters are meh. I know, you cannot have a lot of everyone in such a short movie - but that's not the point. The point is that things don't add up, lots of it is just put together without fine tuning.
For example:
The first time Bruce Banner turns into a Hulk, he's a savage beast trying to kill everyone and attacks Scarlet Johanson, as seen in this pic.
A few minutes later, when Hulk is needed, he's a reasonable creature able to recognize his friends from enemies, almost being controlled by Bruce Banner. Here's a pic of him standing with the avengers, completely chilling it. I haven't seen any explanation for this in the movie (maybe I skipped it somehow, i don't know):

it's the Hulk dude, strongest character on earth who can't control his rage. I know it's comic but World War Hulk went on rampage beat the shit out of everybody including Thor, Thanos & Sentry.

Tony Stark developed quite a bit. He was a cocky, self-centered guy who fought for himself, by the end he was fighting for earth and Phil.

Re: The Movie House
I just watched The Dead. Its a low budget zombie movie set out in a war torn Africa where a zombie outbreak occurred and follows the story of a military engineer on an ill fated evacuation
Don't let the low budget set you off, it's a good movie. The pacing is slow, and the zombies are..well..different. The acting can be a bit bad at times but all in all its a decent movie that gives off a sense of hopelessness.
Or maybe I watched almost every decent zombie movie to date and I'm too hopeful of a new one that's not shit.
Anybody else watched it?

Yes and it was amazing. Actually Brake is very similar, but different story different ending - this movie is so unpredictable, not at one point you can predict how it's gonna end. As I said pretty similar to Buried.

Re: The Movie House
I'm not really a super hero guy and other than the Batman movies made by Cristopher Nolan (amazing movies...can't wait for The Dark Knight Rises), I generally don't enjoy super hero movies. The Avengers was nothing different.
I thought it was really average to be honest. Seemed like a huge budget, blockbuster film- and that's what it was. Sure it's visually pleasing and has some humor and a somewhat kinda ok storyline, it was just...that. Mostly special effects. That's typically I guess my problem with super hero movies though, which is why I mostly don't watch them. I might be being too critical, but I personally didn't enjoy it much.
Then again, not being a comic-book buff or really any type of super-hero guy, that would be expected, I guess.
Then yesterday I saw Battleship (which I didn't really care to see, but my brother wanted to, so I came along)- which was pretty much the same thing but with more depth into the characters than The Avengers. Then again- there were a lot less characters, so on that was expected. Again, a big budget movie with tons of special effects...visually pleasing but not much more.
Then yesterday ( an amazing amount of movies for me for the past week tbh) even later at night, I saw (500) Days of Summer was going to be on, and I had never seen that but had been interested, so I watched. It was a great movie, and one of the better movies I've seen in past months. A delightful comedy-drama, and good performances by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zoey Deschanel. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone.
EDIT: I am not a fan of action movies that much, and much prefer other types of movies, so yes, my opinions would reflect that and it's so fitting I would prefer (500) Days of Summer to both The Avengers and Battleship

Nah the Dictator can't touch Borat, but it's definitely hilarious, it was very short I thought, just a little more than an hour, but I definitely recommend it.
Also The Next Three Days and The Lincoln Lawyer These two movies were surprisingly good. Box office didn't do them justice, very underrated. I recommend them
