Paolo Maldini says Marcelo is the best LB

However, AC Milan hero Maldini is of the opinion that the Welshman is suspect defensively and that he is not as rounded a player as Real Madrid's Marcelo.

He had the best right wing against him in El Clasico and he handled it very well with little support from the wing.

He is caught out of position often in every real game but. He is a liability. Third gl in Classico was his fault. The best right winger? Messi? Disarray did well against Messi but that doesn't make him makelele.

How can Marcelo even push him further back considiring he is a defender and not a attacker, and once again, he did HIS job, Alves freedom barely had anything with marcelo to do but rather that Ronaldo sucked so bad, there was no point of defending for Alves which is why Pep made him a winger 2nd half

A player who was embarassed by Steve Chrerundolo of all people and had very poor performances against Mainz and Dortmund.

I'm not saying that Marcelo is better than him.........but I'm tired of people dismissing him......his defence has vastly improved and he's quite easily the best in attack.He's in the conversation.

You can find fault with anyone's game if you try hard enough.His positioning weakness is a fact, but it dosen't take him out of the conversation.

Abidal is better. That's another. Both Abidal and Lahm both understand that LB consists of offensive and DEFENSIVE duties. Marcelo can't grasp that.

To be the best you need OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE abilities. Marcelo clearly lacks the latter so for me, him even being in the convo is joke.
