Saying Marcelo isn't the best LB in the world by far is like saying Messi and Cristiano aren't the best players in the world.

no fullback in the world is solid defensively nowadays and no fullback is half as good as marcelo going forward

Maybe cause Marcelo cannot be classified as a LB considering he has the defensive ability of Antonini. He is a LW or LWB at best.

If Marcelo is the best LB then Andre Santos should be second as he's as bad as Marcelo at defending and half decent attacker.

Santos is worse at defending,average passer and definitely not as good at the final third.

Also he is so prone at making defensive mistakes,like losing the ball,while marcelo rarely does it

Marcelo improved dramatically defensively in the last 2 years. He is caught out of position sometimes, but his tackling is very good. He is only 24 and he is already the best by far.

Improved dramatically? So how far in the spectrum of defensive incompetence was he 2 years before? And he still is an incompetent defender.

Being adept in attack does not equate to being the "BEST LB IN THE WORLD". There are several LBs overall better than him.

But who is better?I have seen cole and lahm get roasted a lot recently,Marcelo was great defensively and offensively vs bayern,barca and now city.evra?not even close.coentrao can't even bench him. I just struggle to start thinking of other options

Emilio Izaguirre
Naxto Monreal
Jon Aurtunexte
Felipe
Zanetti
Santon (better defensively of course)

Bayern? He was roasted as the Allianz Arena by Robben (who failed with his end product) and came on from the bench in the Bernebeu. In the latter his biggest contribution was a disgraceful challenge.

City? He wasn't even tested considering City were playing a completely narrow counter with the wide forwards going central.

How does Barca count considering 70% against Barca he has been utterly humiliated while the rest of the time its against Sanchez (who can't even beat Mesbah).

Point is he is not a LB from anywhere as he is a WC Left winger.

Mourinho has created a superb system which allows to maximize from Marcelo's strengths and minimize from his weaknesses as this doesn't only involves Khedira doing most of the defensive work for him

When he wants to defend and he sticks to his position and not going forward he is really good at defending. he showed it against Barca, Bayern and other big teams. against quality wingers.

The problem with him is he is out of position a lot and that's because he goes forward too much. but when he sticks to his position he can defend much better than what you think.

People are unfair toward Marcelo. someone dribbles him and he is shat but for other LB's its just OK to be dribbled a few times.

What are you talking about arq?Coentrao was the one who got roasted at the alianz,Marcelo didn't even play until he came on the second half to play as a winger.He started at the bernabeu and completely bossed robben and lahm.And he was fantastic like everyone else at the supercup,Sanchez was useless.
