Barcelona - Center Back

Mascherano can play some CB,but still will feel better if we got another true CB.

It's probably not gonna happen though, since pep did say we were only getting one more player. I'm not worried though because if we do desperately end up needing a CB early on, hopefully they will act on it in the winter window.

Vertonghen, good on the ball, good header too. Kompany or Thiago Silva which are somewhat unrealistic. Sakho as well is a good option.

I actually dont agree, he just sorely lacked pace needed for the Barca backline i think he would be boss in a deeper defensive line.

None the less i suggest a CB with pace and is composed in the tackle does'nt necessarily need to be a technical god because Puyol aint.

But i have trust in CB's coming through at Barca such as Fontas, Bartra, Muniesa and Sergi Gomez.....

But the majority of these are not ready yet so i would buy an experienced CB who can help bring these gusy through and allow Puyol rest....

Alex from Chelsea fits the bill imo.

Masch and Busquets will fill in, it's the only way Pep can juggle the obscene amount of talent and numbers we have in midfield plus we have the youngsters.

I agree that Alex would be the dream purchase since he is supposedly under 10 mil and I think a great player with ball skills.

This is one area where I don't think Pep gets the credit he deserves. Taking two world class CM's and playing them in defense is a hard thing to do. The man management alone I could see as a big issue under other coach's as Masch is not an easy character to deal with. I guess winning cures everything to a certain extent.

With all that being said, I think we do need another more senior player back there. A purchase along the lines of Adriano from last year (someone cheap but fits our style of play and is flexible tactically) would be perfect.
