Liverpool of this season are trash tbh, and with that being said if Rodri gets the second yellow in the first half it's a completely different match.
Anfield is their only backbone when the big teams come to visit. Hoping we overcome that voodoo next weekend. We have to, simple, no two choices. City look to be hitting stride and i think they will lose to Bayern.
Thimmy wrote:I was unfortunately stuck in a family dinner, so I missed the City vs Liverpool match. I had a feeling it would be a comfortable win for City with Liverpool being in such poor form and City's form looking like it's on the way up in recent matches. I saw that Grealish got on the scoresheet. How was he today? Other than scoring the goal, of course.
His best performance in a City shirt imo. Looked faster and more efficient than usual running on and off the ball.
Liverpool made City sweat in the first half with their counter threat. Their undoing was conceding the 2nd so early in the 2nd half.
City play better without Haaland, but they need Haaland to win the CL. Some paradox indeed.

Hopefully for Grealish, he's actually hitting some sustainable form now and it's not just a spurt of form in Foden's absence.
I think City have won most of their matches when Haaland's been rested, but I don't think they played that well without him when they were in poor form.
Newcastle seem to be hitting form at the right time as well. They were pretty poor in the last few matches when I watched them. I think they were on a losing streak up until not that long ago.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
we do suck without Casemiro
and I've seen enough, I dont want Antony starting for us, fidget spinner merchant, he's not PL material, same as Sancho, we need to stop splurging on crappy wingers
playing mctominay and wout fucking weghorst is a disgrace, but thats the state of the squad for you
didnt even have any real bench options today either
our GD is embarrassing

Just saw the match, agree very much a top performance from Man C. De Bruyne prolly after the recent criticism have really stepped up lately it seems? God mode, alongside Gundogen. Even Grealish finally hitting top form n seem to be productive now Its a pleasure to watch Man C when they play like this. No Haaland means less of them clutch goals n just goals that makes u feel like he makes scoring look easy But Alavrez provides to much link up n clever play too. Cant help but feel hes such a clever play who matured so early, when I see Benzema nowadays at his mid 30s, but Alavrez is like only early 20s?
I think Man C has so many choices now it really would be a crime to lose the league to another team Not taking anything away from Arsenal though.. Pep has got to win the CL this time?
Liverpool is just weaker as we all know nowadays. Henderson cant compete vs the top team anymore n I just dont see what Elliot is about, decent player but again he just cant compete? Anyway, dont think its terrible for Liverpool though, but I think expectations should be just top 4 going forward n not winning anything, case of lowering expectations will do

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
This season for us reminds me more and more of Rafa's final season with LFC. Just a season I've slowly tuned out and hoped for it to end. Genuinely the end of a cycle and a new stage needs to be set rather than relying on an aging guard of roster. Very depressing.

He was the most influential player in the game. There was a moment when Liverpool were leading 1-0 where they had a counter after a failed City corner. They were a pass away from Salah having a 1v1, but Grealish came in with a last ditch interception.
If he didn't make that, Liverpool probably goes up 2-0, and the game state completely changes. Fine margins.
Personally, I hate watching him as a winger. So I don't think I'll ever be a fan of him playing on the touchline. He can't strike the ball that well, he can't dribble 1v1, he holds on to the ball too long, and his left foot is useless so he can't run to the byline.
He's just really limited playing there. His best traits are his ball carrying, ability to like never lose the ball, and his pausa. Those are good qualities, but it feels wasted when you're having him play on the touchline. They lose too much attacking threat.
Pretty much when Grealish plays they lose all threat in this area:
Ake plays LB, so it's not like Grealish has an overlapping LB to compensate for his shortcomings.
I genuinely think City goes up a level if they sign Leao to play there instead. He can attack the spaces that Grealish is incapable of:

Alvarez and Haaland both need to start in the CL. They're super clinical. Pep doesn't want to try Alvarez as a winger though. So I expect Grealish-Haaland-Mahrez to be the forwards in the CL.

Yup, and he can pretty much play every midfield role. You can slot him in the Busquets role, Frenkie role, or Pedri role and he's good at all of them.

Next game will be Kante's 3rd home game of the season. All 3 under different managers .
