Apparently you fell for the propaganda. That number is most likely for private electricity consumption only. But electricity and private electricity in particular is a small portion of Germany's total energy consumption.
You thought Germany is run 50 % by renewables? It's 1.5 % from photovoltaics and about 5 % by wind.

Oh shit you're actually right, I spaced on the whole thing and really was looking at private households, am in a rabbit hole for solar panels atm, I apologize!
Not your fault, the propaganda in media and politics makes it look like we're close to autarky if we just build a few more solar panels and windmills. 90 % of Germany wouldn't be able to estimate the true numers, i. e. 85 % of the total energy consumption comes from fossil and nuclear sources, 15 % is renewables, yet half of those 15 % is actually "bio masses" aka burning wood. lol

Precisely. That's like us in the US saying Connecticut is the best run state in the Union. Not even close.

We're going to be in a recession, too, but next year. Material prices went down but companies aren't buying because they expect lower demand in near future so they produce less. Hard times are ahead of us

Who on the Left is saying we're not in a recession? Multiple signs point to it with the most prominent sign being the falling gas prices.

Kansas voted 2:1 to reject abortion, a notable showing for a red state. This needs to be the issue that dems build their midterms around.

Dems tend to fumble the bag when it comes to victories like this though so my expectations aren't high on what they will do with this.

In a situation where you have to assume that he ends up being charged because there is absolutely no way the FBI could be this goddamn careless to go through all of this and then fuck it up

'That weighs on me, I voted for that bill.'

Watch as GOP State Rep. Neal Collins shares the story of a 19-year-old affected by South Carolina’s abortion restrictions, realizing how his support of anti-abortion bills can gravely impact the health of pregnant people in the state. pic.twitter.com/E7wddSuMJv
And yet this waste of space still has done nothing to even try to roll back the damage that has been caused by his vote.

Fact is a lot of these people passed these bills in cynical plays that assumed they would never stand because of Roe v Wade. And now they do. Conservatives love to complain about virtue signaling but that's exactly what they did.

Payrolls rose a robust +263k in September, a touch above expectations.
— Justin Wolfers (@JustinWolfers) October 7, 2022
Unemployment down a tick to 3.5%, equal to the lowest level in fifty years. Revisions also positive.
This is an economy that's still growing nicely. All that recession talk was empty.

I also follow this guy on Twitter. I like him. And he's correct here.
Last night was proof of the fact that the economy is not nearly as bad as pundits in the media want you to think or would like to yell about. That's not to say it wasn't an important issue: it was, and a lot of people voted on it.
But in a truly bad economy there is no fucking way Dems would have done as well as they did last night.
Also, pollsters did well with a slight anti-Democrat bias, just to remind us polling errors can work both ways and that the idea that polls are always wrong in places like WI, PA, MI because they can't reach the mythical secret trump voter is bullshit.
Ron Johnson being reelected is a travesty but Evers being reelected is...amazing. I would have died if I had to suffer a fucking trifecta in Wisconsin. Absolutely massive supreme court election in WI next spring. We are getting closer to bringing back our democracy. Thank you Tony and in a way I guess thank you incumbency advantage

She's only 63 votes behind now, lol.
Still counting though.
In general though, my making fun of America might come, not to an end, but maybe to a middle - basically all the "big steal"/"big lie" candidates underperformed. Republicans still taking the house, but this a rather decent election for American democracy.
Even Trump candidates like Oz properly conceded their races.
