The media's already made their mind up that they're going to nitpick and cause controversy over every little thing and make a big story out of it.

We will surely hear a lot of negative news from the media, true or false, because that's what we want to hear and will bring money to the media.

I think this is true and also probably going to be even worse for Qatar because it's the middle east and also due to the host of other issues (treatment of WC in Qatar has already been much more negative than Russia even before it begins and we've seen in retrospect who the more dangerous of the two really is).
But at the same time this is to be expected as it is the world we live in. As said in the video, Qatar has opened themselves up to the world here, they're going to have to not have people trying to close off filming or threatening to break cameras or you're going to have further negative publicity.
It doesn't help that western audiences are ravenous for negative coverage about qatar so stuff like this on a news aggregator like reddit rises to the top, when a western audience would probably bury it (or at least not upvote it as much) if it were in the Netherlands.

Also, another perspective of the same event could be the ability these days to buy journalism to fulfil the agenda. Like, was it really common for a star player or actor or notable people to call a journalist to fulfil his agenda....I thought journalism was a separate field with a set of objectives and people had a lot of respect for it. It certainly has become cheap these days. Look at how Morgan was throwing tweets every hour till the show is on. How he literally was begging people to come and watch it.

Honestly, banning beer is a better reason for bombing the Middle East than any other I've heard since the 90s.

I hope the beergate don't become a big scandal
The flaws of this world cup were known in advance. Medias better not ruin it by exposing problems everybody was aware of since 12 years yet nobody batted an eye until now.

Re: Politics of Qatar WC
Wow lol... if ur gonna be so backwards dont freakin host a huge international tournament like this than ffs... anyone know if Qatar's is relaxed on Covid measures now? I assume wont be seeing anyone wearing masks at this WC hopefully? Glad China not hosting, would be sci-fi dytopian level of insane-ness... quarantine, tests, masks, codes scanning, ban on everything, oh wait, it already happened at the winters Olympics

I guess you won't watch it when the one of the most murderous current countries in earth hosts it next time?

If we ever do completely oppress the LGBTQ community (and the Republicans are giving that a fair go in some parts) as well as build stadiums with slave labor (let's say felons in our prison industrial complex), then you'll be correct.
And mind you, the US are not the only country that will host. Canada and Mexico will as well. Perhaps I'll just watch the matches hosted in those countries and not my own if the above comes to pass.
