Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Talking about bad actors. I don't know why this happened but after watching Joker first thing that dawned on me was how limited De Niro is. I know he is waaay past his sell by date for a long time now but he acts the same way in every freaking movie and scene, even decades later. No matter what's going on, he is alternating between mouth corners down, pissed off, why am I even here face mixed in with slightly pissed off, ironic fake laugh face.
You take out all those iconic Scorsese mob movies + Raging Bull + Taxi Driver and there is not much left out of his 100 or so movies.
Don't @ me.

Denzel is looking heavy there. Looks like he's letting himself go.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Crime movies would be a more apt description then
Mean Streets and Casino are not really about the mob, hell the mob themes in Departed are incredibly threadbare compared to most mob films.

Ford v. Ferrari over here too
If the answer is Christian Bale, then the question does not really matter.
I'm sure it's gunna be another Tier A performance from him. The best actor of his generation... yes even better than Leo DiCap

Few people agree with me on this opinion.
Bale for me is comfortably the best of this generation and I'm glad you share that same view and this should not be considered a hot take especially given DiCaprio has gone from extremely underrated to overrated in the last 4 years.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
I myself wouldn't exactly use the words gone from underrated to overrated, his performance in OUATIH is one of the best of the year. It's just that in the public sphere he has gotten more publicity for his acting and more film dudebro fanboys this decade than the previous one where he was already great! And that of course is accentuated by only getting his Oscar finally a few years ago.
But we all know his performances in The Aviator and The Departed >>> The Revenant
