Charles Watts of Football London with some transfer stuff:

https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/transfer-news/what-dream-summer-transfer-window-16015728

- Club's main priorities are left back, winger and a Ramsey replacement.
- Celtic's Kieran Tierney could be our LB target but there are fears he'll be too pricey.
- Club is expected to return for Nkunku in the summer.
- Nicolas Pepe was a big target but they feel he's now out of reach. Ismaila Sarr could be an alternative.
- Mustafi could be shopped around. If he leaves, a CB will be bought (no names mentioned though).
- Elneny and Jenkinson are free to leave, and we won't be taking up the second year option on Lichtsteiner's deal.
- Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be a "surprise" target to ensure we're not short at RB.
- Amaechi and John-Jules will have one year left on their deals next season and will need convincing to stay. There're a lot of clubs interested.

THat's nothing new, he's said the same stuff several times over the years. No doubt he's got a soft spot for Arsenal, but I can't imagine he'd be pushing for a move there.

From the way people speak about Barella, he has a great balance of defensive and attacking capabilities. A like-for-like replacement of Ramsey if I may say so.

Sounds better than 35m for Nkinky

Maybe Rincon can tell us more about him

He's one we all wanted for midfield. All-rounder, Cagliari's new Nainggolan but more on the technical side, better passer less aggressive.

He is the LCM starter under Mancini in the NT, next to Jorginho and Verratti. Fits well with them and the partnership formed the spine of the NT. At Cagliari he plays often through the center now.

Cellino (and all of Serie A) knows he is gone from Cagliari. Will be expensive though, 50m or so, which makes it a bit prohibitive to take the risk.

Alaba and Umtiti are our two main targets this summer, apparently:

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-transfer-news-samuel-umtiti-david-alaba-targets-rumours-gossip-a8843736.html?amp&__twitter_impression=true&utm_source=reddit.com

Laughing

In all seriousness, Umtiti might not be impossible if things align in just the right way. The Alaba links are pointless, though. Can't envision that happening ever.

A more realistic rumour:

https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/fichajes/2019/03/28/emery-quiere-joan-jordan/217090.html

Joan Jordan of Eibar as a Ramsey replacement. Has a 15m euro buyout.

Umtiti has been injured a lots this season, not sure if he refusing operation has anything to do with it. He was beast last year but this season, injured, came back, injured again rinse and repeat. Lenglet and Pique have performed great. Lenglet would have been great for us Sad

As for Alaba, Bayer rebuilding so i dont see they would sell someone reliable before offloading crap loads of inconsistent, high wage oldies

Even if Alaba were available in summer, which he isn't, you wouldn't have enough money for a player of his caliber, at least not as long as he's got 2 years on his contract.

Same thing with Umtiti, who's even got 4 years left on his contract.

Arsenal's spending level is Denis Suarez loan with option to buy for 25m €. Carrasco from China was too expensive.

Journos will need to learn to adapt their inventions to Arsenal's new frugality phase.

Not sure why we would want Alaba when we have Kolasinac who is better in almost all aspects of the game.

Esportes in Brazil are reporting that Gabriel Martinelli to us is close. The deal will supposedly be announced when he gets his Italian passport in four weeks time.

The Times are linking us with Ryan Fraser of Bournemouth.

I would be... I dunno. Laughing He's like the D or E target on a list of wide players I'd want us to sign.

I'm thinking a wide forward/striker would be more beneficial now that it seems 3-4-1-2 is going to be a more regular thing. It'd be useful to have a player who can shift between a central or wide role depending on the shape, like Welbeck. Someone like Fraser would only be able to play in the 3-4-3 variant, hence he'd be lower down on my list of desired signings.

It's a curious situation because before Jan I was begging for a winger, but now I see how Suarez hasn't got a game because Ozil has come back in and Mkhitaryan's found form and think twice about it. Part of me also wants to leave space for Nelson or Smith Rowe to come into and we can't exactly do that by bringing in another wide player.

If we're limiting ourself to just three attackers (whether that's 1 AM + 2 CFs or 1 CF + 2 AMs) then Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi plus kids like Nketiah and Nelson seems enough.

Of course, this whole thing changes if Emery wants to go with 4-2-3-1 next season and use the summer to shape the squad to fit that shape better.

Ryan Fraser is not the only player of interest, Leandro Trossard of Genk and Boca Juniors' Cristian Pavon also among the potential additions. [@jamesbenge]

does it even matter if we have CL footie or not?
