I love how it plays up this big drama but immediately gives you the option to:
a) go lift at the gym
b) chat up some girls in a chat room
c) go to Karaoke
Is it bad that Karaoke was the first thing I did?
It's also funny to me that if you press X to skip through the dialogue the animations skip forward.
I did the exact same thing lmao, only seen one story cutscene so far smh.

I got a trophy for jumping off a building
I don't know if earlier instalments did this, but I like how you can enter a lot more buildings now.

Don't think i've got high enough to do that yet
Agree on the whole entering a lot more buildings now, seems to be one of the biggest advantages to a new engine compared to Yakuza 0.
I saw some reviews saying they didn't like the combat, can't help but i disagree tbh as i'm really enjoying it so far.

Re: Yakuza series
I think losing the different styles is a bit of a let down because they added variety to the fights. But the combat does feel really nice and responsive and it's still as satisfying as before. At the end of the day, you can still pick up a bike or sign and bash the shit out of a crowd.
I just did the baby simulator part and it uses motion controls ffs. That's a much bigger problem.

My mate said that he is waiting to play Kiwami 2 before Yakuza 6 as it's in order. Is that true?

Re: Yakuza series
Kiwami 2 is a remake of Yakuza 2, so yeah, it's true I don't think it's a big deal if you don't play the games in the right order, though. Especially, considering characters from past games in the series are hardly relevant in Yakuza 6 - which a lot of fans seem to have complained about.RealGunner wrote:My mate said that he is waiting to play Kiwami 2 before Yakuza 6 as it's in order. Without being too open about it I have gone to the hospital.
Haven't gone any further than that, I'm liking the story a lot but there's so much great stuff I keep getting distracted by.

Re: Yakuza series
Tried looking for hidden places in Kamurocho. Found a vending machine that sells "Mystery drink" and other, more expensive versions of the drinks that temporarily raise stats. I also found a set of stairs that wasn't highlighted on the minimap, and it lead me to "sexy club" lol. Picked up some safe keys I found on the stairs, and continued up to the fourth floor where I found the corresponding safe... which contained

I haven't checked out any of the clubs, yet. I've just walked through them I want to increase the appropriate stats before I go there. I already maxed out my social stats. Gonna head to the baseball cages next. I read that they changed it, somehow.

Re: Yakuza series
So thanks to the new engine, you can throw thugs into stores and break the doors and glass. I did this at a beef bowl store, went in to get my health back up, and was refused service
I just dabbled in the clan creator stuff and so far, it's not all that impressive.

Re: Yakuza series
I just finished the game today. I powered through the rest of the story, which was surprisingly short (only 13 chapters), and didn't do a great deal of side content.
Honestly, I feel rather mixed about it. I liked the story a lot and thought it hit some really strong emotional beats, but at the same there were parts, especially towards the end, that came out contrived and rushed. The big finale itself is a little anti-climatic, because the villain this time wasn't all that interesting.
Probably the most disappointing thing was the combat, in the end. I didn't unlock everything, but the number of contextual heat actions was far fewer than in 0. In 0 I was still discovering new moves even during late game, but in 6 I was pretty much doing the same moves all the time. Maybe the new engine saw a reduction in moves, but nonetheless it's a bit of a let down. Doubly so when you're playing as Kiryu all the time.
Also wasn't super impressed with the choice in side activities. The Clan Creator gets old pretty fast, the baseball mini-game makes no sense, and the Cabaret Club is boring. I liked the spear fishing. I think this is the part that suffered the most in the engine change as there's less to do and what's there isn't all that engaging.
Don't get me started on Troublr. Just boring and repetitive.
I enjoyed it, but I can't see myself going back and mopping up the stuff I didn't do.

Re: Yakuza series
Yakuza 6 had such a serious, pompous and dramatic lead up to the end of it's conclusive chapter, before the game prompted me to tie up loose ends and do sidequests while it was still possible. In typical, Yakuza fashion, the game went from involving government conspiracies, plot twists, betrayal and politics, to being absolute banter
It might be one of my least favorite iterations in the series, but I think it's a fun and solid game, nonetheless.

The advanced golf course is really tough. Spend like two hours trying to get 300 and still couldn't do it.
Have you played Virtua Fighter and Virtua-On in the arcade yet? They have not aged well.

I keep either hitting those super fking agonizingly annoying signs that hang down from the ceilling, or the cardboard cows. Think my record in the advanced course is 180, so far. I'll keep trying, but I can feel my blood boil whenever I think I've hit a perfect shot, and the ball still somehow gets stopped by a sign or a cow
I have played Virtua Fighter. Yeah, they've aged badly. I just completed a side-quest that involved defeating 3 enemies in a row. Don't think I'll pick it up again.
