Also think Pan's Labyrinth and Amelie are overrated but that's just me.

I agree. Pans' labyrinth is overrated. I like it for its innocence and fantasy more than anything. Amelie though i like a lot.

Will check out LATRG. Thumbs up In fact I have seen it long back, but not in full. From what I have seen at least, it was a really good movie.

Lars and the real girl is very good.

Imo best Ryan Gosling performance.

Think my favourite is Blue Valentine, Drive or The Believer. The latter probably the best. Loved that movie.

A question for all those people who watched Inglorious bastards, in that famous strudel eating scene does Hans Landa knows that this is the same Jewish girl that fled in start of the movie or was he just interrogating her for being extra careful for the premier thing. There's been big debate going on here.

Mine is Drive. Closely followed by Lars and the Real Girl (finished watching, its beautiful Smile )  and Blue Valentine. All 3 are amazing. Havent watched Believer.

Sad
What a gem that is. I dont know whether there is any other film perhaps barring Turtles can Fly that has had such an impact upon me. I literally broke down after viewing it. Uff. dat ending!! Sheer masterpiece. Its my most fav animation film of all time along with Mary and Max. Love Spirited away too. But GOF is more closer to the heart.

The Town (2010)

Great film. Loved Ben Affleck in it. Good suspense and thriller. Story wasn't unique by any means but it was nicely made. Not sure about the accents though lol.

What do you mean by the accents? Thats exactly how people from Massachusets talk. It was 100% authentic (Affleck grew up in Mass).

It was new to me lol. I am not sure I have heard a Massachuset accent before. And it specially came weird from Affleck since his other 3 movies I watched he had a different accent.

@EG @McAgger

Was it really that good to achieve over 8.5? It was a brilliantly directed film but I wasn't wow'd by it. It almost felt like a low budget Indie film at times (not that there is anything wrong with it).

I must have missed something

You are making the assumption that there are tons of films like this out there. The only other movie similar to this in terms of theme and plot and quality is Heat.

If you love this crime-heist-drama genre then you will realize how few  really quality movies there are in the genre. Which is why I cherish it so much. I rewatch this and Heist once a year every year.

Which is also why I was going crazy for Triple 9 when the trailer came out. It ended up being a disappointment compared to these two.

Arrival 9.0/10

By far my favorite film of the year so far. Spoiler free thoughts below.

Best sci-fi since Interstellar and Inception. Villeneuve is a god amongst men when it comes to suspense. Your at the edge of your seat for the whole 2 hours.

The concept was even more complicated than Interstellar, probably not as mindblowing though. But the ending also makes much more sense and is handled better than Interstellar imo. I love movies that challenge you intellectually and with it drains you emotionally and Villeneuve was able to execute this to perfection.

The score, holy shit, so beautiful and perfect for this movie. One of the best I've heard in a long time.

The pacing does get a little slow in the second act and this is not a film for action junkies who are expecting Edge of Tomorrow type invasion.

Amy Adams' acting is amazing. The range of emotions she conveys throughout the film is phenomenal. Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker are also good.

Also this is finally the first film that accurately depicts an alien invasion and human's responce to it.

You all owe it to yourself to see this beautiful film.
